Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Completely satisfied We have used this dehumidifier downstairs in our laundry/storage room for 2 consecutive summer seasons, running full-time spring into fall, including when gone on extended summer RV trips. Love that it turns itself back on if the power goes out for awhile. Also, love that it comes completely ready to have it drain into a drain, instead of having to empty. December 10, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Almost works Frustrating product in that the dehumidfier works well. the problem is the external drain does not work so if you put one of these in your basement you'd have to carry the bucket upstairs a few times a day to empty it. I purchase two and both had the same problem; they'd drain water to the external drain for awhile but at random intervals the water would go into the bucket. Danby acknowledged the problem with a statement that there is a drain sensor that sometimes shuts the external drain. As a design defect I don't see how to work around this problem. Home Depot was very good in making both easy to return but it was a lot of work to carry them up and down and up the basement stairs. July 20, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by JUNK...had two of them and they both quit working in less than two years. DON'T BUY THIS BRAND! I purchased this dehumidifier and the compressor went in 1 1/2 years. Replaced it with another one and it did the same thing in about 16 months. JUNK, JUNK, JUNK...NO WONDER HOME DEPOT DISCONTINUED IT! THIS GOES FOR ALL THE DANBY DEHUMIDIFERS!!! A PERSON SHOULD GET AT LEAST 5 PLUS YEARS OUT OF A NEW DEHUMIDFER! THE ONLY THING THAT WORKS IS THE FAN. PRETTY EXPENSIVE +200 DOLLAR FAN! May 9, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by this product does bring down the level of humidity in my basement, however..... The unit initially worked fantastic. I had initial moisture levels reading 78% humidity coming from my own Hygrometer. When I started the Danby, the unit started sucking out the moisture. The units hygrometer eventually got down to a reading of 47% but when I looked at my standalone meter, it was reading 68%. After a month or so of use the unit started cycling it's defrost mode even though the temperature on the unit reads 69 degrees. After the defrost cycles started, the unit now only goes down to 54% humidity and is holding at this level. My standalone meter is reading 71%. Upstairs is reading 58-60% humidity. I switched my standalone meters and got identical reading as mentioned before. July 17, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works as Advertised I'm using this in a basement which is roughly 2900 sq. ft. In the past, I've had to operate 2 de-humidifiers to try to keep the basement humidity around 55%. I've tried several different vendors over the years only to find that they had trouble keeping the humidity down and would stop working after 2 to 3 years. I've had this de-humidifier in operation for 17 days and what a huge difference. I only have this one and it took the humidity down to my setting of 55% in 2 days while raising the temperature about 2%. What a great difference! I'm very impressed with the results. Hopefully, it will last beyond the 2-year warranty. I was led to believe that it would be noisy, but I run it on high during the day and on low overnight and I have to open the basement door to determine if it is running. I'm very pleased so far. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy to start and good features I've just started running it since the humidity has just started. I'm giving it an excellent so far, but if my opinion changes I will add more later. June 1, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Would definitely reccomend. I am very happy with this product so far. Yes, a bit noisy but works wonders. My house smells fresh and clean. Just turn it on while I'm not home and it seems to be enough. January 28, 2014
