Can I use to remove wooden floor that's been nailed down?

Asked by: Kym
Yes, smaller sections. A larger pry bar might be better for flooring.

First, an employee was available to point me to these and they looked like they might do the trick to remove the carpet strips and staples from my floor after I pulled up the carpet and that cushioning under the carpet. It was a lot of work and those tools were perfect. When you want to pull up those nasty fragile strips this is the way to do it. I didn't have to use the largest tool very often but I can see how important it would be. Not only was I glad that Home Depot had this package but I was thinking that I'd initiate a letter of appreciation to the company that made them. I will expect this feedback to be sent by HD to DASCO. Thanks.

I used these in conjunction with a painter's 5-in-1 tool to remove a couple hundred feet of shoe molding. If you do trim work including crown & apron, baseboard and quarter round/shoe molding tools like these are a necessity. My only issue is that none of the tools has the same fine taper to a point as a 5-in-1 tool. They are small enough to fit in a small toolbelt pouch and that's what I was looking for since I have larger pry bars for framing or other heavier work. Price makes them a value. The nail pulling capability is okay but most of the trim nails/brads are from nail guns in the past 20 years so that feature is not that important.

The most annoying thing about these pry bars is that the blue paint on them rubs off on anything you use them on... like your trim or the walls you're removing it from. The nail removers are useless on anything except nails with larger heads. My claw hammer grabs trim nails better. They do the job. Were it not for the blue paint rubbing off, they'd get 3 stars.

I've had success using these to remove window trim without damaging it and other similar tasks. The metal is of the appropriate strength for typical usage ( thin enough to fit in small gaps while being strong enough to not overly flex). This product is made in USA.

I was having trouble removing some 6x6 tile backsplash, and the longest of these is straight, so with some taps of the hammer, it slid behind the tile all the way to the opposite edge, I would reposition several times, and the tile would come off, intact 3 out of 4 times. Saved me a lot of time.

They're especially useful for pulling trim without destroying it. I bought them for that purpose. When using a larger pry bar for pulling trim, you'll definitely run that risk. I'd say they're a must-have for home improvement projects.

A wall panel came to 1/16 of an inch above the floor. The wall panel had to be pried up relative to the floor. Even the largest of this set was able to get into that narrow space and do the job. It worked great.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Didn't work as well as hoped Had to remove nails from a junction box. The bars were bending when trying to get the nails out. Bought this mini set since couldn't get my full size handi-bar in. Wound up cutting the heads off the nails since bars were not up to the task.
