Hello, The unit is designed to dehumidify a room size of approximately 1500 sf. However, you must factor in the humidity level in the room as well as the percent of humidity you are trying to reach.

Customer Reviews

70-Pint Dehumidifier with Patented Pump is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 38.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Defective Units Beware I purchased this unit at my local Home Depot and when it arrived, it looked like it had fallen out of the delivery truck. Reluctantly I took it home, plugged it in and nothing. I called the manufacturer for support and all they could offer was to have the unit shipped to their service department so I returned it to Home Depot and had them order me another one. The second unit arrived at my house a week or so later and when I plugged it in, nothing. The power button would not work on either unit and they both displayed the symbol indicating that the tank was full or in an incorrect position; however, Delonghi customer service was once again unhelpful and could only offer to send the unit to their factory repair department once I mailed them my proof of purchase. What a pain in the neck. Steer clear of this unit…

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Short life I purchased a 70 pint Delonghi about 6 years ago. It did not last very long, just out of warranty. During the third summer season, it continued to run but would not pull moisture. The compressor was running hot but would not cool the coils for dehumidification. The manufacturer told me either the compressor has failed or possible low on freon. Either way, it failed after about 10 actual months of summer time usage. I then bought a Danby from Home Depot, which is now discontinued, it lasted just out warranty as well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Runs great but always on. I'm not sure there's a better de-humidifier out there. My only surprise was that when it's in thermostat mode v. manual or timer; the fan continues to run even if it's not in the action of de-humidifying. A bit of an energy hog in that regard, but i guess they all probably do that. It was very easy to set up and after two weeks operation, it does a great job. I just wish that when the humidity drops below the set point that is would shut down instead of go to low fan, which is still quite loud.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good humdifier, esp the pump feature Have been using for about a month and all seems well. The greatest feature is the pump that works very well. We are using it in a newly purchased house where we're not there everyday, so pumping the water is really the only viable method (no floor drain available). Pumps to the washer overflow pipe about 6 ft above the floor with no problems. The only complaint is that the fan runs continuously even when the compressor is off. Since this is an Energy Star model I can assume it's still thrifty on energy use, but this can be a noise problem for some. It's in our basement so no big deal for us. If you're a Massachusetts resident, this model is listed on the MassSave site for a $30 rebate.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Pump never worked, worst customer service experience ever, still unresolved Purchased this dehumidifier in May 2014 and chose this model because I needed the pump feature. As a dehumidifier it works fine however the pump has never worked. Made three calls to DeLonghi center service and the only thing they would offer if for me to return the unit for evaluation and that I would have to pay the freight cost. Tried two more calls to get a reasonble outcome, and even though I had a case number, the customer service person reasked the same stupid questions over and over, like is the dehumidfier plug into an outlet. After several calls I have still have a high price dehumidifier with no pump feature. I will never purchase a Delonghi product ever again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from DeLonghi 70-Pint Does the Job I am an antiquarian book dealer, and run a pair of these to dehumidify a small warehouse (1500 SF) of old books. They replace a larger unit that that cost more than these 2 put together. Once my old workhorse quit, I bought these 2, and in a day they had reduced the humidity in the warehouse by about 20%, and have maintained the level I selected since then. They were easy to unpack and extremely simple to set up. They are direct drained to the exterior of the building, so I do not use and can't comment on the pump, or on emptying the drawer. They have been operating for about a month or so - quiet and efficient, they get the job done.
