Product Overview

The oz-deck foundations are an excellent method to secure a wood post for deck construction. The oz-deck are not only extremely fast to install but can also help prevent your wood post from premature rot that can occur with direct burial in the ground. The oz-deck foundation system provides the same strength and stability of conventional construction techniques with less labor and lower cost. Installation is easy; simply locate the oz-deck plates where your posts are required and drive the oz-post through them.

  • The jackhammer installation method makes installation fast and also compacts the soil beneath the oz-deck to prevent the oz-deck from settling over time
  • The revolutionary design of oz-deck allows them to be utilized in soft terrain and also in regions that are subjected to freeze thaw conditions
  • Oz-deck foundations have been independently tested with loads exceeding 6500 lb.
  • Designed to fit standard 4 in. x 4 in. posts (3-1/2 in. Square)

My door is just over 3 feet from the ground; thus I would want to place my deck at this level as well. Could I use this product? My yard also slopes a little from the house... What length of 4x4 could be place in these foundation systems and be sturdy and safe?
Thanks

Answer:
Hi cory,
Oz Deck Foundations are designed for specific loads and must be part of a overall deck design.
Consult with your local building department before starting
your project. They will specify the deck size, height and length.
You must follow local codes when installing a deck.
A building permit will be required prior to the start of construction.

The advertised weight rating says 6500 lbs. If I use 6 of these to support a shed does that mean the shed can weigh 6x6500=39,000 lbs.? What does the advertised weight rating signify and what specs can you provide as to how many are required to adequately support a 10x12 wooden tool shed?

thnx

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Way better than digging. Used to build a floating deck...Installation was easy and quick...helped having a young strong grandson to run the jackhammer! Will see how well they stay in the ground next spring. June 9, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Solid and easy This product worked like a champ except for the big rocks in our soil. Where it could be driven, even through little rocks, it went quickly and worked well. I had two posts that eventually crumpled under the hammer when they hit big rocks two feet down. August 31, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Biggest waste of money. After reviewing the testimonials from other people, I bought 9 oz-deck foundation post holders for my shed. My dirt here is not the best but I want to let you know the oz-deck system is not at all as it is advertised. Not one of the post will go all the way down using a dewalt jackhammer, and the 3 that even came close are still about ½ inch from the metal plate. It rain for three days before and it still did not help. I am not hitting rock because I can drive a metal rebar down in the spot but the oz-post just will not go. I have a friend that was going to use these for a deck on his house and I was telling the Ace hardware owner where I rented the jackhammer from about them but now I would not recommend them to anyone. I am also going to post this on as many forums as I can as I just wasted what was a third of the price of having concrete piers poured. and to add you can't even send a contact to OZ-CO as thier contact us page does not work.
