Answer:
Yes. This transformer will power incandescent, halogen, and LED landscape lighting fixtures. It will also power LED deck balusters and other exterior LED products. It has been written by some that AC transformers are not for LED lights. That is a misstatement of the truth. Todays exterior LED fixtures are complete with rectifier circuitry to allow AC power sources such as this transformer.

Maybe from 20-years to 15 years, for example. Read Less

The patriot model from menards has to be reset if you cut the power with a switch, so you would
have to go out and turn it on every time you turned the power off. I'm using the outdoor light switch
to control this transformer. I need it to come on when I turn on the light and off as I turn the light off.

Basically, the answer is yes. If you plan never to use the timer settings or dusk-to-dawn (Auto) settings, you can mount it in a garage or outdoors with the photo eye covered with black tape (defeat the photocell). Then, you can connect it to a switched outlet and it will turn on and off by the switched outlet. Keep in mind, if you decide you want to use the timer settings or dusk-to-dawn setting, you'll Read More

Low-Voltage 45-Watt Transformer with Analog Timer is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 40.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Replacement Transformer This item has the same model number as the original transformer that came with my landscape lights. The original lasted for an acceptable length of time until one day I touched it and it all fell apart. There are two reasons why I rated this so low. First, one of the screws for attaching the low voltage wire was stuck and broke off in the hole. I ended up having to drill the screw out. I bought a tiny replacement screw but try as I might, I couldn't get the wires to stay connected. I gave up trying to connect the wires as directed and purchased two small terminal ends, attached them to the wire, and then screwed these connectors to the prongs. No problems at all with this method. I certainly don't remember the original transformer having this many problems. It was the exact product that I wanted, otherwise I would've returned it. The only concern I have now is how long this will last. The description says it's not weather resistant which seems a bit weird for something that is supposed to be outside.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Product as described and fast shipping The transformer arrived quickly and performed as described. Do not overlook, as I did, that this transformer does not have a clock setting for on and off time. It has an eye that determines when the power is applied with settings for when to turn off - auto, 4 hrs, 6 hrs, or 8 hrs. Performs well to replace the Malibu transformer that came with the 6 light 4 volt set.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great item and works like it was advertised. I replaced this timer wth an old one that came with a light set that had quite working. This one does the job and was reasonably priced. Recommend for anyone that needs a replacement for a 10 light set.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great little landscape lighting Timer/Transformer Have changed to LED lamps in my landscape lighting. I can now use this low cost Timer/Transformer. This more then payed for the LED Lamps.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Didn't work out of the box. The timer is well made, but the photoelectric eye did not work. This was the third Timer that I had bought to replace the first one that had the same defect. The timers were returned and I received full credit, but it was very inconvenient having to pick-up, install, and return due to the same defect. It's obvious that the manufacturer has no quality control and Home Depot would do its self a big favor by not marketing this product.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Works Connection point of 1 side of 12 V wire did not work correctly. Would not screw in properly. Had to break it off and solder connection. Works fine this way but since it is not offered in store or a similar item I could not get a replacement and needed immediately. Store did not have similar product which I have found with Home Depot in the past also.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good product This transformer is very good. However I would like to be able to adjust the start and stop times with a timer and this unit does not allow that. I would also like to be able to turn it on during the day to be able to check out my lighting but this unit also does not permit that.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great budget transformer I bought this for my LED pool light, for which it works perfectly. I'm using the Emaux 2ZTN3 light/fixture that only draws about 8W of the available 45, so I still have room to add more later on! I've never had to clean the sensor and my pool light works from dusk till dawn without fail. I will point out that you should be mindful of your power needs. Most LED are not set up for AC voltage, but this one was.
