I purchased these screws to build a fence in my yard and was extremely disappointed. I've had approximately 30 of these screws sheer in half in less than 6 months after the completion of my fence. I would not recommend this product or ever purchase it again.

Since I build a lot of furniture I use a lot of screws. Whenever posible I use these and other sizes of Deckmate screws. I love the star (or torx) drive on these screws. They never round out and are always easy to remove even years later. Since they are polymer coated they never rust and are great for building outdoor furniture or building your new deck. 15 years ago we build a big beautiful deck and when we moved several years after construction, we simply took the deck back apart and moved it to the new house. On a 30x24 two level deck fewer than a dozen of the deckmate screws broke or could not be removed.

I've used Deck Mate fasteners for years with complete satisfaction. In fact I've reused 10 year-old screws from older projects that I've refurbished (decks, patio covers). I'm baffled by other reviewers that complain about screws snapping off, because I've had only 1 screw out of 1000's ever break, and that was because I was driving a 4" screw to cinch down a 2x4 into another very dense board. Additionally, the star-drive head is a further improvement over the older phillips head.
