I built a shed and last fall (I live in CT) with a small 6'x10' landing at the front door. I used these 2.5" screws to attach the 5/4 PT wood decking to the 2x8 joints below, as well as multiple other sizes throughout the project (all just using a battery powered drill). I just went back this summer to add in railings and noticed a few of the screw heads were sticking up proud of the surface. When I went to tighten them down, they spun freely meaning they had broken somewhere. I quickly realized that about half of all the screws used in the 5/4 were broken just below the first thread, providing almost zero holding strength. These screws had only been through a single winter and the first part of a summer before breaking (although they could have broken last fall) which is not acceptable for an item being sold specifically for "decking" purposes.
I will be trying another brand of screw (GRK) for future projects as the extra few dollars is easily worth my time of not having to replace these annually. I'd recommend others to avoid this brand as well.

Don't believe all the fake posts about these screws being durable and excellent value. These screws are absolute junk. I am a gardener and use deck screws for all my outside projects. I made a condominium planter box and with the natural movement of the wood, about a half dozen of the screws broke. Unbelievable!

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by shadypa do NOT buy this junk. do NOT buy this junk. Buy stainless
I bought boxes of this junk to make my fence. I think I am building it again for the 3rd time. The screws have broken multiple times. I have boards that out of 6 screws, 5 are broken. I replaced the screws before with some of the leftovers I had. I brought a bunch of broken screws back to Home Depot to get a refund so I can buy stainless (about the same cost) but was told that I have to deal with the manufacturer since I bought 3 months ago. The fence is barely a year old. Can you imagine if I actually used the screws to make a deck?? I used different size screws but only chose to rate this one. They were ALL horrible and broke.

I've never used these on a deck but I've used them on just about everything else. These are my go to screw. FYI IT'S NOT A PHILLIPS HEAD! Use the correct bit to drive these. I have broken a few of these but it's usually from over torque. I even use these for Pocket holes in place of the more expensive Kreg screws.

I love these screws!!!! They have a drill point so they actually create a pilot hole as you screw them in. No cracking or splitting. I rebuilt my porch/deck and was not sure if I should use nails or screws, so I got a small box of both. Granted the screws are about 3x the cost of nails, but whoa...they are faster, stronger, easier to work with and a lot less damaging to the wood. They are also coated to prevent rust or corrosion. Additionally they do not work their way out the way nails can. Only downside I can see is if you ever had to take the deck apart in the future, it would be very difficult as these screws hold TIGHT.
Absolutely worth the extra money.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Andy Started off Great but failed in less than a week
I used these for my new deck - 2 2 5lb boxes. The day I finished the deck and finally sat back to relax - the sun was setting just right and I noticed a bunch of the screws were slightly raised above the deck surface. I thought "no big deal", so I grabbed the screw gun and went to tighten them up. Imagine my surprise when all the screws I went to tighten were broken! None of them had been in the wood more than two weeks and they all were tight (unbroken) when I placed them earlier. How did these all break AFTER I put them in (and they all broke in the wood, not from torque). Amazingly poor quality! So, I checked about 200 screws and about 50 of them were simply snapped (like a bunch of others on here observed happening to them!). Cant believe anyone continues to sell (or make) these!

Just completed a 750 SF split level deck using these screws for securing the decking.
They are a LOT easier to use vs Phillips screws, I had no issues of head stripping, slippage, etc.
