Answer:
No it isn't real copper it is a cheap aluminum, I think and has a copper colored coating that doesn't last, allowing the metal underneath to corrode through to the surface

Our posts are 3 1/2" and that is what the lights fit on. The 4 1/2 " would be an inch too big and you would have to cut or grind the top of the post to fit. Answer:
The interior of the DeckoRail Dynasty Copper Solar Post Cap measures 3-5/8” x 3-5/8’ and is designed to fit over a standard 4 in. x 4 in. wood post. Unfortunately, this post cap will be too small to fit over a 4 1/2” square post.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Looks great at first but does not last I bought 5 of these in March 2016, 1 does not work at all, all 5 of them the paint does not hold up and has allowed corrosion to come through. I would have to sand them or repaint them

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solar post cap review update After writing my critical review, I was contacted by the company who offered to replace all defective solar post caps at no cost. Therefore I retract my initial review. I am impressed by any company that is willing to make a purchase right when a customer has expressed dissatisfaction with heir product. Thank you Bethany!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Apology After writing a scathing review complaining the light lasted a very short time, I was contacted by the company and they sent me a replacement. I have never written a review before and had thrown out receipts . It is good to know that a company stands behind its product. Great customer service! Thank you

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Solar Cap Neighbors like the look. And, it actually lights for a long while even after being in a low light (Shade) charging environment. This one has a much larger solar panel than the last one. I just wish it had two batteries rather than one. Or, I need to upgrade the rechargeable to a 2400 mAh which is no big deal. I'd buy this one again. Oh, I did. I now have two!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An incredible lighting device I am amazed about the quality or solidness of this post cap, it is well made, fairly tough, looks good and performs excellently! I get at least 11 hours steady light from this! I would have liked though a more transparent glass for brightness, like that of the classy caps!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from does not work The solar post cap was supposed to come with a battery. it did not. it looked like it would hold double AA so i put one in. It did not turn on in the dark. Instructions said to let it sit in the sun for a few days. so i let it sit in sun for a week. It will not turn on. Very disapointing. This was after the lamp i wanted was not solar. The store was supposed to get this model in on a truck a few days later. I came back and it had not come in. So i ordered it so i would not have to drive back across town again. Then, when it comes in it does not work.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice lights The lights really go well with my new deck and the patio furniture I have added The were 10.00 cheaper online

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Product ! I love this product. Unboxed it, pulled the battery protective tab and set them right on top of my 4x4 deck posts. they lighted that night and every day since. I would have given them 5 stars but there is no way to attach them to the posts. They just fit over them with a little play. Someone can pull them right off. I would buy them again though. When we bought them they were on sale also so we saved some money.
