Answer:
They do require a square drive bit unlike what the DeckoRail rep sail. They should have included the bit with the brackets. It does not even say on the literature what type of bit is required. Bad oversight.

Answer:
A four way (square) bit for your drill works very good. It would be nice if it came with this, but most of us have one around the house somewhere.

Answer:
Yes, but with some difficulty. I had to cut wedges to allow them to fit on the part of my deck that was at a 45 degree angle.

Answer:
None. The railing mounts flush to the post, and the bracket merely surrounds the railing.

Customer Reviews

Rated 3.7 out of 5 by 18 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Convenient but hardware terrible Once you line up and center the bottom brackets evenly the whole rail and top brackets go in perfectly. The predrilled holes in the bracket perfectly pull in and center the rails as long as you measured the rails correctly. The screws are garbage. You can't over tighten or the heads just snap off. the only nice thing is the heads are black and blend in. When I get some extra time I am going to get stainless screws and replace them all. I can hit the heads with black nail polish if it bothers me. Overall great bracket. If you have the time and money just get real screws and they will last a long time. September 26, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Rail connectors Not sure how long these will hold up, hard plastic, expected something sturdier for a railing support. September 27, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Brackets The brackets are easy to use and seem to hold the railings pretty well. My only recommendation would be to make the a bit deeper. August 9, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Expensive plastic with chhezy screws Almost 13 bucks for 4 cheap plastic brackets, and the screws provided kept shearing off. A great idea killed by a ridiculous price and super cheap hardware. Big disappointment. July 9, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy rail installation These rail connectors made the railing installation around my gazebo a snap. The black color looks great too. July 5, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by interesting accessorie we remodeled a small wooden porch into a bigger composite deck with handicapped stairs. The size and angles were out of the norm and needed special material. Coming across those brackets and using them was one of the highlights of this project and was even surprising to our builder. Definitely would use them again if building a railing where 2x4 composite or wood is involved to hold spindles June 28, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Worked as advertised Product was easy to use. Product worked as advertised May 24, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Really works great Really surprised how well they work. When I bought them I was thinking plastic? I tried them and found them to really work well! Railings are super strong! Happy I used them! Well worth the price! April 13, 2016
