Can I extend the distance from the cameas to the DVR beyond the 65 foot cables that come with the unit and if so how far can they be extended?

Hello oxy127, thank you for your inquiry. Extension cables can be purchased in both 65' (#21008) and 130' (#21009) lengths. You are able to extend the cable run up to a maximum of 195' (including both the original cable (which must be used) and any extension cables you may add).

How long is the manufacturer's warranty?

Please see the following information: Defender products are guaranteed for a period of one year from the date of purchase against defects in workmanship and materials. This warranty includes but is not limited to the repair, replacement or refund of the purchase price at Defender’s option. This warranty becomes void if the product shows evidence of having been misused, mishandled or tampered with contrary to the applicable instruction manual. Routine cleaning, normal cosmetic and mechanical wear and tear are not covered under the terms of this warranty. The warranty expressly provided for herein is the sole warranty provided in connection with the product itself and no other warranty, expressed or implied is provided. Defender assumes no responsibilities for any other claims not specifically mentioned in this warranty. This warranty does not cover the shipping cost, insurance or any other incidental charges. You MUST call Defender before sending any product back for repair. You will be sent a Return Authorization form with complete return instructions. When returning the product for warranty service, please pack it carefully in the original box with all supplied accessories, and enclose a copy of your original receipt, the completed RA form, and a brief explanation of the problem (include RA #). This warranty is valid only in Canada and the continental U.S. This warranty cannot be re-issued. Tearing the tamper-proof sticker on the DVR cases will void the product warranty.

Hello Nana, thank you for your inquiry. This DVR has video output for VGA (computer) RCA (TV/Monitor) and HDMI (HDTV). For an older TV, you would use the Yellow RCA connection.

In the country, we use a hot spot for internet access. Will it work with this unit and how?

Hello Olandolan, thank you for your inquiry. The DVR needs to be connected directly to a wireless router/modem with the included Ethernet cable. It does not have a wireless transmitter/receiver on its own, so without the direct connection, you would not be able to access remotely.

I was able to view and search the DVR on my phone and PC with very little setup. The search function is full featured and very intuitive. The camera controls are very straight forward. Being able to adjust sensitivity and select areas to ignore movement is a plus. I did have a problem with night vision on a camera but Suzanne, at their support department, was very helpful with getting me a replacement camera. I would recommend this DVR and camera system. The support department is a real plus.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy Configuration & Setup I first connected all the components, setup and configured the system without running any cables just to ensure all of the components were working and to see if I liked how the system operated. Everything checked out and I found the system surprisingly simple to configure, even the remote monitoring from my iPhone. The mobile app uses a QR code from the DVR to configure the app. Wow, that made it especially simple! I ran all the cables and mounted my cameras. This is the most time consuming part of the installation. One issue that I encountered was that with cable runs longer than 65 ft (which is the length of the cables that came with the system) there is a drop in the power to the cameras. I have two runs which are right at 100 ft. For two runs I used a 135 ft extension cable (same brand as the DVR). The cameras attached to these cables were starved for power and would not go into night vision mode. The infrared LEDs would come on but the sensor within the cameras would not switch to night vision. I solved this problem by installing individual power adapters (very inexpensive) for each camera directly and using the cables for video only. This is not a problem with the system but a natural function of cable sizes and distance. My only suggestion would be for the extension cables to be a higher gauge (larger wires). Had I ben aware of this problem I would have purchased heavy duty cables that would have avoided the problem. I didn't want to ran cables again else I would have replaced them with a higher gauge cable.

There is a learning curve on the set up, but after watching the videos on-line, it made it a lot easier to set them up. Would recommend this product to anyone installing a security system inside or outside their home.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Ok camers, non existant customer service. cameras are ok and the system over all seems to work for the most part other than the port dropping connection. I have requested assistance twice using their horrible online "customer service". I never received any sort of help so I am stuck with either and unrelighable camera system or a wired only system. In which case I paid way too much, be warned, if you just want something with no warrenty and not support this could be for you, but if you think you may at some point possibly need any customer service do not buy, they only want your money and do not care if you have a properly working system or not.

If you expect this system to last more than that you need to look for a better quality product. 2 cameras died just out of the 1 year warranty period. Now the hard drive won't communicate with the router and the HDMI display quit working on my TV. All within 1.5 years.
