Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Kevin Overall, it's a good system as far as cameras go - the images are clear, the nightvision is good and the transition is fast. One major issue though: its wireless signal operates on the 2.4GHz band using analog (not 802.11 WiFi). Sending four channels of video at this resolution over that frequency will wreck the performance of your 2.4GHz WiFi network, and possibly that of your neighbors' because it looks like very heavy noise to the router. If your WiFi ecosystem is entirely 5GHz, you can avoid the issue, but that's rare for most people - many common WiFi devices only support 2.4GHz. It's a dealbreaker for me.
It's really just a wired system which has BNC connectors on the back of the DVR which connect via cable to some remote wireless transmitters. You need one of these wired external adapters per pair of cameras. It's rather bulky vs a design where the DVR contains the wireless transmitter internally. I suppose they did this for manufacturing simplicity to keep the DVR the same between their wired and wireless systems.
The metal on the cameras is very soft pot metal, and it strips easily. The tapped finish is rough enough that it's hard to tell if a bolt is at the end or if you're stripping it.
The paper templates included for drilling holes where the cameras will mount didn't actually match the mounting pattern of the camera itself.

I live on a thorough fare street that has cars drive by daily. This camera is basic for what you need if you don't set the 4 cameras in motion alarm. I set the camera to be motion detected and it worked as intended. It alerts you by email when someone or something triggers the sensor. The drawback is how sensitive even at its lowest level. It was so sensitive that even a little wind will trigger it. I was getting email alerts every minute.
Images were good. So if you want a basic camera with no frills to check your surrounding home this will be it otherwise a professional grade may be an option if you want to spend the bucks.

So easy to assemble/hook-up. The quality is amazing for the price. It's like looking out a window, the clarity is that good. Reviewing previous footage is also a breeze. This system couldn't have been made any user friendly than it is. I am a 54 y.o. woman, had the cameras up and plugged in within 15 minutes (the ladder work took me the longest time), and the rest of the system hooked up and running in about 10 minutes after camera installation. I am a very happy customer.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by jim6918 A little disappointed in the camera mounting
The only fault I had with this entire system was that the cameras will not work with the mounting base anchored to the ceiling. It must be anchored to the wall. No matter how the camera is adjusted the image will be upside down. The troubleshooting manual addresses this specifically. I was attempting to anchor to the soffit around my house, which would have been ideal, but ended up having to anchor to the wall which is stucco; less than ideal.
Other than that, the setup was very easy and the cameras paired with their receivers automatically.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by kasper1961 Defender Wireless Pro 4 Channel System
the system is really wonderful and does the job I needed it to do. set up is very easy, and the overall picture quality is very good and the Night vision is outstanding. the only draw back I have had is that the power supply cords for the cameras shorted out after 7 months or so, due to rain getting inside the housing. it rolled down the wires and seeped inside, if placed where rain would run away from housing or its covered by a flower pot to keep weather away it would be to your benefit. Overall I'd buy the Defender products again. The Customer service was great and Suzzane was so helpful in taking care of helping locate my purchase info and taking care of the warranty claim. The power cords were replaced free of charge.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Bob438 Great System but having problems with cameras freezing.
Installed the Defender system (Pro) in January. Worked great until last month (May 2016). Cameras are freezing although the time frame for the camera is correct. This happens at least once a day. The only way to get things working is by rebooting (powering down). Could not locate a customer support phone number from their website. Sent them an email a week ago seeking help to resolve my problem, no response (in this day and age). Love the system (if I can get it to work reliably again) but product support after purchase is nil!

I thought I could use this system with only my smart phone and equipment purchased. Not the case. Had to buy an additional monitor tried using tv with hdmi and it would not accept resolution. No person to talk to on support just a recording. Did eventually get some one on live chat. Read all the fine print. once hooked up and working after a week of trying to install. Works pretty decent. downloading onto flash drive from dvr is no cake walk and you almost need a degree in IT. Would recommend to younger generation but not for baby boomers
