Answer:
That would depend on 2 things : (1) does the extension cord plug have the same number of pins as the timer ? (2) Is the power cord's electrical "rating" equal to or LESS than that of the timer ? [For example, your extension cord might be rated to handle an electric heater which draws 15 amps - but the timer might only be rated to handle a 5 amp load]. Hope that helps.

One thing I found annoying is that if you switch from timer to manual, the timer will stay on manual so the lights will never go out. I use this for Christmas tree lights and sometimes turn the tree on manually. If I forget to switch the timer back to the timer setting, the tree will stay lit. I have other timers that simply turn the lights on without removing the timer connection.

The first one made noise that appeared to work, but my lights were still on in the morning. I checked the dial and it had not moved. The second one was DOA and did not even make any noise. I tested it with my table lamp and the dial moved. I returned them for a refund and purchased the Basic version which were cheaper and both work flawlessly.

New out of the box, it had not been tampered with or returned or opened before. Called the so called customer service help line. They were no help, only thing he could do was re read the directions to me. Suggested that I return the item- receipt has been lost. Chalk this one up to lesson learned. Won't buy their product again.
