Answer:
The 180 degree is noting the motion sensing angle, not how the lights face. The mounting mechanism of the lights do NOT allow you to point them away from each other all the way, and you don't exactly get a full 180 light dispersion. Wish it did.

The two light heads do adjust sideways a short distance to help light up a bigger area. The light heads can also be adjusted up and down to light up your preferred area of backyard, driveway, etc.

Each light can be aimed independently. No tools are needed to adjust their position. Just reach up and turn them to the direction you intend to illuminate and your done. When they designed these lights they placed some thought into them.

I understand the light has a motion sensor and will light when motion has been detected. I want to know if I can turn it on whenever I want to via a switch in the house.

Thanks in advance!

Answer:
The light can be on a switch but if the switch is off your light won't come on. I have mine on my back porch and leave switch on all the time, otherwise the motion won't work when it get dark outside. As far as I know you there is no setting for it to be used to stay on with a switch and off with the switch, it will time out and default to the light on motion setting max of 5 minutes.

So, if you choose to hook it up to a switch for this sort of convenience, I would suggest a motion switch. I have had this lamp for about 2 years and have not had any troubles with it whatsoever. you can set it to turn on regardless of motion, to work from a switch, but the timer maxes out at 4 minutes and will turn off at that time until you toggle the switch again I believe. I'd test it out, but mine died after 9 months, so I don't recommend this model/unit. Good otherwise, just keep your receipt for a return/warranty. I'm shopping for a new one today.

Answer:
I don't think it would do any good to install a switch with this particular unit, if you did it would not disable the motion activation it would simply cut power to the unit... meaning even if you turned it on with a switch something would have to trip the motion sensor for the light to come on.

I did install this unit in a hall closet, replaced ceiling pull string fixture, kids kept busting the string. now with the motion sensor facing downward the second they slide door open and reach into closet lights on and I have it timed for a minute. has been working great

Rated 3.9 out of 5 by 191 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very Happy So far I've replaced 3 of 5 aging security/motion lights around my house. Each one has had pros and cons so I try to research well before buying, but it's still kind of a shot in the dark. This one has been up for about a month and my experience with it so far has been flawless. Junction box installation was very easy, set up was easy and guess what - it works better than I ever expected. Senses me coming around the corner of the house about 35 feet away without fail (in the pic - the side walk expansion joints are 6 feet apart). Super bright and light up twice as much area as the previous one I put up near the garage. April 1, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good lasting This is one easy to install light. I've used motion lights to secure my greenhouse and parking area rear of my lab And worked nicely and does trigger every time. The this light is suited for sun exposed areas The light throw is decent So I've had this light for nearly 2 years, ordered it July 9th 2014 and has been faithful. Dispite it's plastic body It has held strong. Spare parts seen on this light (black mounting screws) swapped for contrast Same model of the black virsion All motion lights are great security. And strides have been made to increase security and cut down on light pollution April 11, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Decent Sensor Light My wife wanted a dimmer light than the LED sensor lights I purchased from another "wholesale" store, and which are absolutely amazing at illuminating a wide area close-in, yet have a spot (via a lens) that reaches out far away. I bought 2 sets of these from HD to satisfy that request and which throw only about 1/3rd the lumens of the first ones I bought. They work fine, and rather than a "spotlight" effect they create a much dimmer "floodlight" pattern. While the replaced ones would light up 100ft from the source, these create a soft light that maybe reaches 25-35ft at absolute most. There is NO spot effect (and adjusting the adjustable heads is almost pointless, but they do exactly what my wife wanted, so she is a happy camper. If you want to softly illuminate a wide area, these are your lights, and at a decent price. These would be especially good if you live in an urban environment and don't want to disturb close by neighbors, or even notice from inside your home that they have activated. September 6, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Barely senses me standing in front of it waving my arms! This was installed on the side of my home. I went outside after dark. As I walked toward it, it didn't come on. I stood directly in front of it, maybe 5 feet away from it. Still no light. I waved my arms over my head and it still took several seconds for the light to come on. Why say more about the light? I need a light that comes on as soon as someone or something is in a reasonable range. August 27, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by These simply do not work as advirtised You have to be within 5 feet for the motion detector to work, I bought one and returned it because I thought it was faulty. Bought second one and it was same. Back it goes, I should have read the other reviews here, many have same issue. You would think HD would stop selling this faulty product. September 4, 2016
