Answer:
I replaced my old batteries with AA N Mh that are in a pack of 4 from an online company. I had to spice the wires together since the connectors were different. Total time to do the job was 15 minutes to do 2 units, taking off the house, unscrewing back and spicing wires to back on house. A snap. Once you get the back off the unit you will see the specs and the connector used.

The battery is in the light housing, remove the four screws on the back of the light and the battery is inside.
The battery is a 4 cell, 4.8v, 1800mAh Ni-MH. Unfortunately the pack is not standard an not an off the shelf product. Best bet is to take it to a batteries plus and have them look it up for a replacement or buy the 4 cells, shrink wrap, connector and contacts and solder it yourself. Probably

Where is the OFF switch?

The instructions say to turn off the unit for 4 days if it's not charging properly; however, the location of the off switch is not shown and I can't find it. Does one unplug the light from the solar panel to turn it off?

The switch under the lights seems to have only 3 positions, test, 1 minute and 3 minute settings.

Bad instructions....

Answer:
Try calling Defiant 866-308-3976, if available they should be able to sell you one or remove the battery and take it to Batteries Plus if you have one around you. If not check their website.

Answer:
It will need to be disassembled for battery replacement. Defiant/Homedepot do not offer a replacement battery. But, once the battery type/size is identified, replacement should be easy enough to source.
Since mine die within the 2 year warranty, I just replace the whole light for free at the local HomeDepot after calling the warranty phone number in the owners manual.

Yes, batteries are replaceable. Not sure where to get, but would assume manufacturer's website would be good start. Batteries are said to last 4 to 5 years.

Answer:
Turn it off for the 4 day charging period. If it doesn't start working than the charging system is faulty. This could be the battery not holding a charge or the solar panel not producing the voltage to charge the battery. Clean the solar panel with water and a rag. If it still doesn't work at full power call the manufacturer for help.

Rated 3.0 out of 5 by 110 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Junk - don't waste your time or money This product is absolutely useless, Even after you wait the 4 days to fully charge the battery pack, once in use if it turns on more than a handful of time - which motion lights will, it completely depletes the charge, leaving you stuck turning them off completely to allow for another 4 day charge. By the time you figure out they are worthless, it is too late to even try and return them. Absolute disgrace that these things are even on the shelf. July 4, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by does not work anymore I wish I had read reviews before I bought it. As with many other people who reviewed it, mine quit working less than a year after installation. piece of junk. Stay away from it. July 16, 2016

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by PIECE OF JUNK I have replaced this light 3 times in one year because it just quits working. The first time, it was replaced at no charge. The second time, I was told it was because it was in the rain and not replaced. I purchased a new one and it is still up.....but hasn't worked for months! DO NOT BUY! Cannot believe Home Depot continues to sell inferior product! May 4, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Horrible It worked for 30 days and failed. Not it comes on maybe once a week if I'm lucky. Typical China junk. Very disappointed. When I did work it would die and need charge after 3 days use. Setting was at one minute run not three min. April 20, 2016
