Yes, it stays at half power until someone or some thing triggers the motion sensor. Then it comes on at full power for however long you set it for, and then goes back to half power.

No, this means that the light operates at reduced output. It still responds to the photocell and the motion sensor.

Hi Buyer, you're right. The light stays on at a reduced level. You can set the time for 3 hrs, 6 hrs, or from dusk to dawn. While in this setting, the light will become brighter if motion is detected.

Doing some research, I found out that the sensor is so sensitive in this new model that just the heat or reflected light from the unit itself will constantly trigger the sensor. So, I put the sensitivity all the way down, and swung the arms all around in different positions until I could get it to work properly. It took a long while, but I finally got the right configuration to make it work properly. Read Less

If you want to toggle the amount of time the light stays on (this is not motion detected time) try the "DUAL-BRIGHT" switch. This switch set to off will cause the light to only light when motion is detected (and then to what the on time switch is set for) when dark enough. if the DB switch is set to the 3 or 6 you will get a semi lit light for that duration in hours I think when first powered on. The Dawn to Dusk will make the light illuminate at something like 1/2 power for the duration of the darkness. Hope that helps
The manual link I saw earlier in another question doesn't seem to be accurate. Here is an updated link to the model I referenced above.

That is the problem with these lights. They just stay on, and they're not supposed to. I had two sets and no matter the settings they just stayed on super bright mode all night. They are supposed to switch between bright and dim, or on/off depending on the setting.

Yes If it is attached to a wall switch, simply turn the switch off and immediately back on. The light will come on and stay on until it cycles off in the morning. To reset, turn the light off, wait about 10 seconds and turn it back on. It will come on and cycle as normal.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by The box says it has "manual mode", what it means is that you have to turn it on to manual mode every time you use it. October 30, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Bought 3, all failed within a year I bought 3 and each of them failed within a year. On one, the motion sensor stopped working. On another, the sunlight sensor failed (so it turns on when sensing motion even in bright daylight). The third stays on all the time. Maybe I should have expected a lifetime of only a year considering the price? I'd be willing to pay more for reliability if only I could figure out which are reliable without having to wait a year. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great for my garage. The sensor works great as expected, it picks up movement within required range. The halogen light is bright but not blinding and there are enough options to tweak it to my basic needs; lights on for 1 min, 5mins, 20 mins, from dusk til dawn or 24/7. The only issue was I had to purchase a seperate 4 inch round weatherproof electrical wiring box that secures the fixture to the wall and keeps the wires tucked in nice and neat. Make sure you get that box or have something else available or you will be making a another trip to HD. Other than that, for $34.97 and $4.98 for the box this is well worth it. September 20, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Won't work with LED.... I purchased, and installed this product. Installation was very easy. Sadly, it states that it works with LED bulbs, which it does NOT. I actually returned my bulbs thinking something was wrong with them. Made sure to get wet-rated, dimmable. Just flashed on and off. Checked different settings, nothing. Put in test mode, still flashing. :( Put in PAR38 incandescent bulbs and it worked great as advertised. BUT that is not what I wanted. So if you WANT something that works with LED's this is NOT the device for you. I'll probably return it and get what I really needed. October 11, 2016

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works well Even though this is a basic motion detector, it has more features than you'd think. We especially like the fact you can have it on at a low beam at night and when someone walks by, it can go on high for 5 minutes. October 26, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect Outside Spotlight We purchased this light as a replacement for one that had ceased working. We had it installed by an electrician who had come to do another job for us, and it took no time at all to get it installed. We love the constant dim light (comes on when it gets dark and stays off during the day). When motion is detected, the light blinks and then comes on full force. We love this light; it provides enough light to illuminate the yard for our dog, and we can see the blinking from the living room, so we know something has triggered the brighter light. It also has a low profile and the white matches our eaves. When our driveway light finally dies, we will get another one of these to replace it. Highly recommend this motion spotlight for homeowners!
