A review elsewhere said "What good is a GFCI plug if it resets when ever the power goes out? We had some short power outages and discovered that the plug goes into reset mode any time that occurs. It doesn't require a surge or power fault. If you unplug it you'll hear it click as it goes into reset mode. Or if you test it by using a power strip to turn off power (ensuring that power is cleanly terminated) you'll see the same behavior. So, if you have something important on this (like a sump or ejector pump) you could be in for a big surprise."

Yes, this device is designed to reset automaticaly after power is restored without user assistance as noted at the end of product description. I've bought multiple quantities of this unit and couldn't be more happier with the auto reset feature. There are same units that are manual reset, so pay attention to product description.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent for GFCI cord replacement I broke the GFCI plug on my electric powerwasher so I bought this one with the intent of MacGyvering the cord onto the GFCI. It turns out I didn't need to. It's not in the description or in the instructions, but the three-outlet output cord is connected to the device via screw clamps in a dedicated compartment in the GFCI. This allowed me to simply cut my cord, strip the wires, and attach to the screw terminals. The compartment is accessed by removing the lower four screws on the back of the device , and it is watertight via a silicone gasket and rubber grommet for the cord. The cord is held in place by a strain-relief clamp and is screwed down so it doesn't pull out. There is even a strip gauge embossed on the side of the device to indicate how much wire to strip. I attached my cord and was up and running in 15 minutes. I haven't used this long-term, but so far I like the design. If you are looking to replace the GFCI on any outdoor electric advice, this is the cord to use. June 6, 2014
