I bought two of these twin pack light sets but am very disappointed in the Switch Mechanism. I see several others customers have had the same problem. This potentially is a great flash light and I would even be willing to "buy" a replacement switch mechanism but this is not currently an option. Such a shame to have such a nice product fail due to one faulty component.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by john Great light output but defective product
Light is compact and light enough for carrying in coat pocket and with a comfortable grip. Uses cheap easy to find AAA batteries . Surprised with the lumen output of this flashlight for this price range. Light throws a long and bright beam. Shame it didn't last very long. As others have mentioned the end cap switch is poorly made and mine broke after 3 weeks use. The switch came loose from the inside of the end cap. Product was returned. Seems there is a quality control issue; I noticed one of these lights missing it's end cap while still inside it's unopened sealed factory package. The store employee quickly removed it from the shelf after I pointed it out to him.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by JoeM light output ok, switch quality poor
The light output from this flashlight is good, aluminum housing gives impression that it is quality construction but the switch is so bad it makes the other points irrelevant. I bought these at Christmas and turned them on/off less than 10 times when the first switch broke. I took it apart and put it back together and it worked for few more on/off cycles before it broke again. I did not expect too much since this was one of those items that show up every Christmas in the aisle displays but I expected more than this when I purchased it at Home Depot.

These seemed very sturdy at first. Body is solid and not too heavy. Light is nice and bright. Both lights' on/ off switches are bad. They push up into the body of the flashlight. Very frustrating. Also, if they're jarred they'll go into strobe mode. I might try another reviewer's gasket suggestion but these have been a headache so far.

Light had appeared sturdy and gave good light nice for an emergency, but after a couple of uses the switch pushed in from the back, fixed several times. But issue is ongoing, not worth buying unless you don't mind having to fix it every time you use it.

For the Holiday my wife bought me a Protac 1L which was about 110 lumens.
Very nice in theory; but my hands had trouble manipulating something so small.
I found this defiant 2-pack online and headed over to the store in Bloomfield. The light feels good in my hand - has a good positive feel to the switch and is very bright. I live in the country and last night coming home in my pickup I held the flashlight outside the truck on high and killed my headlights. Wow. While it is not as bright as my giant headlights, it is certainly bright enough to drive on an unlit country road. Only tried it for a few feet but I was quite pleased. I was afraid I could easily lose the Protac due to size but this light is harder to misplace and besides you get two! Very handy in the cargo pocket of my work pants. A good purchase for sure.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by GeneB Nice try but a failure
Very good Cree LED light, and housings are well made aluminum extrusions. Unfortunately, the switches on the end caps are garbage. Two flashlights in the package and two failed switches. One switch literally fell out of the light and the second one has some internal short as it changes intensity with bumps or just goes out. By the way, no instructions to tell you whether these have a low, high and blinker setting or just high and blinker or what.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by GRinAZ Missing part and broken on/off switch
Waste of money. 1 of 2 flashlights in package had a missing battery pack holder. Exchanged for another pair. On/off push button came apart at the Returns desk in one flashlight of the 2nd package. On/off push button then came apart in the good flashlight of the first package while still at the Returns desk. Store processed a refund without question. No Defiant branded flashlights for me, sticking with Maglite.
