Customer Questions & Answers

Does it come with the solar panel?

I saw it in the video but not in the pictures. I don't see it listed in the description either.
Asked by: tnickleb
YES - CHARGE THE UNIT UNDER A LIGHT BULB FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS OR MOUNT THE UNIT AND LET IT CHARGE IN THE OFF POSITION ABOUT 3 DAYS BEFORE USING TO CHARGE THE BATTERIES.

DId anyone have trouble with the wire from the solar charging unit staying plugged in?

On my unit it seems the round metal connector is too big to fit into the receiver snuggly. I am thinking it will just fall out...and it definitely wont stay put in a breezy situation....
Asked by: Jackie
Make sure you have a good connection - secure connection either with tape or silicone - will not come apart.

Does this light have replaceable batteries? And, if so, how many?

Asked by: rangerjoe
Not really. The batteries are 5 Ni-Mh 1.2 batteries that are wrapped and soldered to an adapter cord. I suppose you could purchase more Ni-Mh 1.2 batteries (not hard to find) but you would need to wrap them and solder them to the cord.

Set it up, tested it, put the 6 holes, it takes to hang, into the side of my house just to find out the motion sensor fails after one go around. Very disappointed. I have adjusted all dials to try different settings. The only way to use the one I had bought is to hang it low enough to turn on manually. So for a $40.00 solar light it is nice, but that is not what I was going for when I bought it. Also another problem I am having is that there is no troubleshooting on this product anywhere online. google youtube even on this site.

The solar panel cord to unit was more than adequate (approx. 25 feet) to install the panel on the roof of my two story home and put the light on the exterior of the first floor. Quick, sure plug in of wire to unit. Clip on system for mounting the light onto the side of the house could not be easier and faster. Particularly love it for make it so simple to slide light out and turn over to manipulate the rotary knobs controlling the three detection parameters. Light's battery seemed fully charged when I installed it. The light itself was the negative for me. It can't be aimed straight down; goes out at 45 degrees roughly. And the light itself might work for something very close; like less than 10 feet. But from there it is very diffuse; not bright at all. I'm using other units from this brand (not the same model) and they work very well for brightness.

I let charge for three days as per the instructions with motion turned off. The motion worked one time and quit working. Now I have to turn on manually. Plan to return it asap.

I have this light mounted under the front overhang part of my garage and it is working great. I put it up in June of 2015 and it survived two winters. Having it mounted where it doesn't get wet helps I'm sure. The solar panel should be cleaned from time to time. I get on a step ladder and clean the glass on it and I haven't had trouble. I set the time for full length, the lux at total darkness, and the sentivity at full.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Reliable Solar Light This light was straightforward to install however they should include a higher quality set of screws. The ones they provided did not grip well and were not particularly sturdy. I think a metal self-tapping screw would be better. That said I was able to get it up with the provided screws and you could always sub in your own screws. The light is quite bright and the sensor is sensitive to motion (without being overly sensitive, it doesn't go off for a breeze or stray leaf). I like that it's solar powered and doesn't need to be hardwired. Overall I'm pleased with the appearance and performance.

Living in Las Vegas, we have no problem obtaining enough sun for solar power. With that said, I purchased this unit about 6 months ago & installed it on our shed with 100% sunlight exposure for the solar panel. It was motion activated and for security only so its operation was very limited. Now the light has discontinued working. I checked all connections so I can only assume the batteries are shot. Unfortunately they are wrapped as a pack and cannot be replaced without spending about $15.00 on the replacement pack! With very limited activation of the light, the batteries should have lasted much longer. I would not purchase the product again!!!!!!!!!!

The only way I could get the unit to come on was to set the LUX setting to the daylight position. The sensor would not work with the LUX in the night position. Ok, had to set the sensitivity to MAX also...Well, it been 2 weeks and it's been working till two days ago. NAAADA.. won't even lite up with the motion lite switch set to manual. Don't waste your $s on this unit.
