We have used this headlamp for several years now. We live in a neighborhood without many street lights. We take our son for stroller rides at night to help hime fall asleep. With both hands on the stroller. This is the goto flashlight for us.
This only thing missing is another strap that goes over your head so that it doesn't fall down your face.

The quality of the light is very impressive. After using this light, I thought to myself that I am surprised that it didn't cost more. Not to mention that I would still feel very happy about the light at a higher price. This is my second Defiant light and wont be my last. Outstanding job Defiant!

For the price, I've found it to be more than adequate and can take some drops, too.

I had some work to do in the attic and without this little gadget, it would not have gotten done!
A must have in any tool box.

This is a pretty nice headlight for the money. I'll get right into it...
Construction is really nice. It's not thin, shiny plastic like cheap headlights; instead, it's solid-feeling and has a very light texture. The headlamp is a bit big (about 3-1/4" wide from switch to battery cap), but not too big as to be unuseable. The headstrap is quality: not super, but more than enough to get the job done. It's not a flow-through design; there's a space for each side. It adjusts to smaller than my ten-year-old daughter's head, and larger than my size 7-3/4 head (with a helmet on). There is no top strap.
The light is held in place (when you adjust it) with friction. No ratcheting system required. It's nice and stiff, but easy to move when you want to. A plastic lens protects the 5mm LED bulbs.
Press the side-mounted switch once for four white LEDs, then press again for two red LEDs. Press a third time to run off. You have to cycle through both modes to turn the light off. High is 85 lumens, and although it's advertised as having 9 hours of runtime (on the packaging) I get about 6 hours from new alkalines. The light runs on three AAA batteries in a carrier, and three alkalines are included.
This is a very good headlight overall. The price is low and the quality is high. Typical cost for a 85-lumen headlight is about four times as much as this one. The headlight uses ANSI lumens, ie. "real" out-the-front lumens and not a made-up figure or emitter lumens.
