Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Hendo $15 in store but $5.97 online
I just bought a new house and was looking for some added security for the front door. After researching this item, I went to home depot to pick this up along with a few things. However, when I found this item in store, I was surprised to see it selling for around $15. So I purchased it on my phone for $5.97 and selected "free store pickup." Amazing how the store and online prices don't match up.
As for the item, it's solidly made and simple to install. The openings are large to accommodate variations in trim depth. It is wider than expected though. Comes with 3" screws.

I wanted better security on an out swing garden door. These are the same spacing as the garden door we purchased from Home Depot a few years ago (always check the door hardware spacing as all are not the same). This item has long screws which secure it to the framing studs so you are not relying on the door jamb for all of your safety support.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by diydad Cheap and easy security upgrade everyone can do in 10 minutes
People don't realize their front and back doors are only secured by a couple of 3/4" screws in a soft piece of wood that can be kicked in very easily and quickly. These security latch plates provide 9 three inch screws that go deep into the door frame studs and make it very difficult to kick in.
Since these are an upgrade to the door security, even apartment complexes will not have a problem with these being installed.
Easy to install, just remove existing latch plates, pre-drill new holes, and install provided screws.
Satin silver finish looks great and gives an upgraded feeling to the hardware.

The part was easy to install in the existing space betwen the door and frame. It allowed me to bolster the door security without reworking the entire door frame. You do need to make sure you have a wide enough gap for the product to fit without interfering with the door swing.
