A good flashlight is definitely required where I work. I ripped through five or so before I purchased this one. It has lasted nearly 6 months before I went to purchase another. It works great for confined spaces and it does with stand a few drops onto our concrete floor.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Doc3 Operates on "dead" batteries
I have had this flashlight for a year and it gets used a few times per week in the winter, less often when the local star is above the horizon longer. The thing I found amazing is that it will operate reasonably well on AA batteries that have stopped working in other devices. A thermometer or a clock will stop working when the battery voltage falls to (typically) somewhere between 1.17 and 1.34 volts. This flashlight will operate just fine until the battery voltage drops to around 1.0V. The light becomes detectably (but not noticeably) dimmer (until very close to the end when it serves as a graceful notice that you should install another "dead" battery. I have found that I can (with my typical usage of a few minutes at a time) go for weeks before I am forced to install a replacement. I have not tested the claim that you can use new batteries for up to 3 hrs but I have seen no evidence that would refute it.

Lightweight and extremely bright light for its size.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by OCEANSIDE Nice quality metal little flash light with strobe feature
This LED flashlight fits comfortably in your hand and provides a nice bright light. It operates with 3 modes : Full on, low light and strobe. You select the mode by clicking the button on the base.
1st click : Full, 2nd click Off; 3rd Click Low, 4th Click Off, 5th click Stobe; 6th click Off.
It is smart enough to know there is a time delay between clicks so you each time you start in full light mode and only need to do the extra clicks if you want low light or strobe.
It comes with rubber fittings you can put on to prevent damage from dropping it. The packages says to a height of 30 feet, but I didn't try that high. From a 5' drop on concrete the rubber safety fittings let the flashlight bounce without any damage.
I use this out in my yard and around the house, but I'll probably get another one for the car. I think the strobe feature is great for warning other drivers if you are stuck on the side of the road.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Historian This Is One Serious Flashlight!
This little monster is built to last, out of aluminum, comes with rubber armor bumpers to protect it if you drop it, and throws out a very nice beam of light that is blinding up close. I love it! Control is simple, from a red button on the tail end. Best of all, it will fit in your car glovebox for carrying with you in case of an emergency!

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by jakeparlay High Output - Decent Ergonomics
A lot of what appealed to me when ordering this flashlight turned out to be the same things that detracted from my enjoyment.
I loved the look of it -- still do. But the rubberized "tactical" attachments make it hard to stash this flashlight in anything but the loosest of pockets. If the tactical attachments were less gummy and more plastic-based it would help.
It's also not very compact for a 2-AA LED flashlight. With or without the rubberized attachments it's fairly long. This flashlight is a decent value and the light output is very good and crisp, but I would recommend other compact LED flashlights over this one.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Transplanted One tough little flashlight to have handy
This is one tough little flashlight. It is a great size to keep around the house or in a toolbox. The light is very bright and uses ordinary batteries which is a plus.
The construction is such to hold up to normal abuse.
Very nice flashlight and well worth the purchase.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Enginerd This is the light to get in the 2AA class
I have used for the past three years a very popular 2AA flashlight made of anodized aluminum with an adjustable beam. Using the same batteries, the 2AA Defiant is easily three time brighter. The LED clearly outperforms with bulb in my old flashlight. At no setting does my old flashlight shine even half as bright as this thing. The "low" setting is several times brighter than my old flashlight too. I like the removable rubber bumpers, so I can decide if I need it to fit in a pocket or beef it up for toolbox duty.
