Answer:
Yes, you could, but why not purchase a hall and closet and save a few dollars? With that knob there is no locking feature.
With the privacy, though, they can still lock from the inside just by placing a flat object in the slot and turning it, just as you would to unlock from the outside if installed properly. This lock is strictly for privacy not security as no key is required.

As I recall they carry a "Lifetime" guarantee. However, as Consumer Reports mentions, that word has no legally defined meaning. There are warranty requirements that we householders can seldon meet; not that we couldn't but we usually just do not bother: Details, like keeping the original reciept (for many years!). Usually these warranties are valid only for the original owner. With home ownership frequently trading hands in less than 8 years, such "Lifetime" guarantees are not too meaningful. Typically also mentioned is that they are not responsible for your neglient care; so if you've cleaned it with anything they don't prescribe, forget it. Then there is the simple fact that few of us will bother to try to collect on an item we bought for only a few dollars several years ago!
So, unless your item is only a few months old {and you kept the reciept}, forget about it; buy a new one of a better quality and a different brand (as your protest).

Answer:
Unfortunately you would have to enlarge your cross bore diameter to 2 1/8" for any items in this brand to fit on your door. If you have any further questions, please contact our customer service team at 1-877-663-5625.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by quality product & priced right easy to install and looks nice. It was a natural fit for the doors that I purchased at Home Depot. July 12, 2016

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good lock and nice design Very good lock and easy to install on all types of doors May 17, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good cheap door knob Cheap door knob. Evidentally, I'm as muscular as Stallonw in that movie "Over the Top" because I break door knobs around my house when I turn the knob too hard. When I bought these, I looked at them and thought to myself "My whole body is an engine. This is a fireplug." I raise my clenched fist. "...and I'm going to light this door knob up..." Well, as I installed it, I noticed all the hardware inside was metal, rather than cheap plastic like the ones that were installed in my home. I can't rough handle them anymore. And I guess I'm not a beast like I thought. I recommend these as a reasonable replacement for simple door knobs in the house. They aren't fancy but neither am I. December 8, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy to install This door knob was easy to use to replace a broken doorknob. March 8, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Manufacturer changed a piece to cheep plastic that causes you to shim the opening to fit. The manufacturer made a terrible change! They are now using plastic for a piece and I had to shim the inside of the door knob opening to install what was suppose to be an easy replacement with the same brand. I am very unhappy as it took me so much longer to install. The Manufacture should go back to that thin metal piece that slides in easily. I hope this gets back to the manufacturer. Cheep plactic that is wider than the original metal is not the way to go. . Home Depot however gets 5 stars as always. They are the best company to do business with as a customer. December 15, 2015
