Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Craig No brainer... Pays for itself
Install it, turn on the light switch and forget it. It takes care of itself, you and your property. Definitely helps to provide a safe environment at night. This product works great and literally pays for itself in just a couple of months. An excellent buy.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by livingatHD inconsistent but good enough for now
It's a relatively inexpensive "fix" to change an existing fixture to one that automatically turns on and off with dusk and light. I have it on a ceiling mounted fixture on a covered porch. It isn't super consistent about when it turns on o off. It usually switches on/off a little later than when the light in the sky starts to fade or rise. I think it might be because of the eaves on the porch and where I have the fixture mounted. But its good enough for now. If you are considering this item, make sure your fixture and shade is deep enough to allow for the light bulb to extend out another inch or more after you attach the device.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Doug Stays lit even during a bright sunny day
The light stays on well past dawn. I have seen it turn off, but the sensor is not nearly sensitive enough (even with the cover removed) to be useful.
Additionally, it adds some height to the bulb, which may be a problem if your light fixture doesn't have the extra head room or blocks too much of the light from the bulb.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Dave bad product
Will not turn off during day time. Photo sensor is not working. No stars given for this product. This is the 2nd one that didn't work. Took 1st one back to get this on that does the same thing.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Matt OK product, horirble instructions
I'm noticing that the bad reviews often say that the light never goes off. I also had this problem. I found out by accident that the "flicker free" cap comes off (I thought I had broken it). When It's off (as mentioned by another consumer) the unit is more light sensitive, and when aimed at the sun the unit works pretty much as advertised. One wonders why the silly thing is sold without explaining how to make it work in lower light situations. It's cheap, but surely someone in China can write "Take the stupid cap off" on the packaging...

I bought three of these units. After testing one unit, which seemed "iffy" at first, I proceeded with two more. These are used in three fixtures spaced apart over 25-feet. At night, they compete with each other, so that they randomly flash on and off. During the day, some of these remain on. At any given time you may find one or all of the lamps dark at night, or one or two "on" during the day. Since I had no packaging materials, I could not return these, so I scrapped them. Junk.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Watermelon READ the INSTRUCTIONS!
Bought 8 of these. Will by 4 more soon.
All work great...BUT...upon installation you need to leave them on for at least 15 minutes to "cycle" as the instructions say.
I'm thinking that perhaps the problems people are having, is because they didn't let them go through the full cycle process.
Also, the "flicker free" nozzle is removable and makes the unit more light sensitive if you need it to be.
I followed the instructions on all of mine and they are just the absolute best.
