We have a gas dryer on our covered back patio. I was wondering if this could be used to catch the lint as opposed to the lint going all over the back porch. Since the dryer is already outdoors, I'm not concerned about carbon monoxide, but rather a fire hazard that mat be present with this lint trap.
thanks

- This filter uses water to attract lint from the dryer exhaust as it passes through the plastic box. In the winter the water will freeze and in the summer it will evaporate more quickly outdoors, so it may not be an ideal solution for you.

- If you decide to install this kit I would strongly suggest deleting the included flexible duct and instead using a semi-rigid duct, if not a rigid duct. (A rigid duct is your best choice but it isn't always practical.)

Answer:
The Lint Trap Kit is designed for safe indoor dryer venting where outside venting is impossible. The product should not be used with a gas dryer indoors. Although the dryer is located over a back porch "outdoors", check with the local codes in your area. Some building codes may restrict the use of this product. There needs to be adequate distribution of heat and moisture.

Answer:
ABSOLUTELY NOT! It is a safety hazard to use this with a gas dryer. All gas burning appliances MUST be vented to the outdoors to reduce the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning.

Answer:
Yes, the Lint Trap Kit can be used with electric dryers, unless forbidden by local IRC codes. Always follow installation instructions, monitor the level of water, remove lint filled water and replace with regular water.

Lint Trap Kit is rated 2.8 out of 5 by 11.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Sauna Room/Steam Bath..... Not Good I tried this product a while back and vented it in the garage. Easy to install, add water, etc. It turned the garage into a sauna room. It gave everything in the car a steam bath. It trapped some lint but i'll definitely humidify your entire house if you want to. I returned it for a full refund.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Energy Efficient I just moved into a new home and did not feel like putting a whole in the wall of my basement for a dryer vent. I saw this product and it was not expensive and came with everything you need to hook it up. It does exactly what is says it’s supposed to do; it collects the lint in water then shoots out the air. What I like most about it is that it shoots the hot are back into my basement so in the winter time it will also help heat my house. Not that I will be running my dryer all the time but every little be of efficiency helps these days. The only downside I would say is it is somewhat cheaply made but it works and it is not expensive. You get what you pay for; the only thing is with this product it seems to pay you back in the winter.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Lint All over The Lint Trap Kit is extremely easy to install. It keeps the house warm in the winter and extremely hot in the summer. It does capture 80% of the lint, however, there's the 20% that is on your walls, cabinets curtains and whereever else lint can accumulate. The problem lies with the vents at the top...It allows lint to escape and travel. Prior to this Lint Trap, I had a Twizzler container with a red lid for which my dad made an opening in the top to fit the hose. The hose came from the back of the dryer into the lid of Twizzler container filled with water. No lint, no anything. You just had to keep the container filled with water as you do this one. The only reason I switched from the homemade contraption, is because I wanted something a little more sophisticated. It has been 3 years of fighting lint. I'm done. Going to try something else.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from could of been better works good but cheaply made would be nice if there were screens on the vent excused , also a pain to put the lid on and off because the cheap material

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nothing Fancy But It Works I was skeptical, but for the price it was worth a shot. The whole set up is cheaply made. Installation in my application wasn't too tough. does it do the job? for me, better than expected. I used to have tons of blue lint in my garage (that's where my dryer vents, into my garage). After a couple of months, I still don't see it clinging to every thing in the garage. I do, however, have to clean out all the lint trapped in this before I start my laundry day at home.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This product is not a one-size-fits-all They used too little material and the flexible hose is not quite big enough to go around the dryer vent hole and hardly attaches to the manufacturer's trap box. The plastic strapping can't attach the hose to the vent hole. I used duct tape and that comes loose after a load or two because the moisture gets to the sticky side of the tape. Product might have been useful if only they did not cut back too much on the diameter of the hose.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Did me justice for 4 years The only problems i had was it will stink if you do not clean it often/and as it got old was not able to snap top back on right and middle thingy that goes inside gets out of place, causes lint to go everywhere.Helped keep house warm in winter/sad sad summers.lol

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does the job Haven't had trouble yet only problem is hose included is very short impractical for use ( maybe stretch to 3 ft) being a "remote" product like it is the hose will contract and spill water or have to be placed very close to machine . Save a second trip and get hose while at store.
