As others pointed out this vent deteriorates into nothing after a few years. The vent doors deteriorate so bad that they soon stop operating. By time your vent needs a thorough cleaning the doors have deteriorated to the point of crumbling apart when attempting to remove them This product SHOULD NOT be considered as usable in an outside environment even though that is what it is intended to be used for.

Nice at first but after a couple of years it has become brittle and literally fell apart in pieces. Now I have to buy another because I can't find anything better.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Guaranteed to fail in 4 years - Plastic not UV rated I have 5 of these vents installed on the shady side of my home. These looked fine when installed but after 4 years the plastic had become dry rotted on all of these vents. I had to remove the louvers to clean out lint that had accumulated around the louvers. To remove the louvers the plastic must be flexed in order to move them out of the hinge points. The plastic snapped like egg shells in my fingers as I tried to remove them. A closer look showed not only were the louvers brittle, the plastic bezel was also deteriorating. It is clear that the plastic used to manufacture these vents is inferior and can not possibly be rated for use on the exterior of a home where UV exposure is known to affect plastics. My vents were installed in 2009 and are imbedded in the masonry so will not be easy to replace nor cheap. I should have used metal vents. It's too late for me and will continue to be a hassle every few years to keep these maintained. Buy something else.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Will not last! Even though I have this vent cover on the North side of my house, which receives very little direct sun, the plastic has become brittle and one of the levelours has broken.
