1.3 Amp 20 in. Variable Speed Scroll Saw is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 37.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Saw for the Money. The Delta is the cousin to the DeWalt DW788, which most scrollers recommend. The cutting action, blade holders, cast iron table, and I believe the motor are the same. Which is the most important parts of a scroll saw. The main difference is the price. Delta = $377.00 DeWalt =$549.00 I tried to start out with one of those 100 dollar jobs I just didn't want to spend that much money on something that was more or less a hobby. that was a mistake.

Assembly was simple just clean off light packing oil from the table and snap on the blower hose. It comes with 3 blade but not the best, alignment was spot on out of the box. Almost plug and play. It comes with all the needed tools for assembly. I have had several scroll saws over the years and most recently a basic "craftsman" this is the first upper level one I have had. The quality is night and day! Almost have too learn wood control all over because this Delta operates so smooth and vibration free. After putting a light coat of wax on the table it is smooth as glass! The blower is incredible, I was used to just moving the blower completely away on other saw but this one is like having a small air compressor right there. The air really works on this saw! Before mounting to a stand I was able to stand a nickle on edge on the table and run at full speed with out it falling over. Not so with other saws I have used. I have used steady for two weeks daily with many Christmas orders and have really gave it a work out. With the location of the power switch and blade tension it has cut significant amounts of time on projects. The saw I got was updated with a built in upper arm lift pin that holds it up for blade feeding/changes and it works very well. This saw runs very quiet. It has a hold down that I do not use but it run so smooth that there is no wood hop even with reverse tooth blades. The table has left and right tilt with simple easy access knob with positive stop detents. I can't believe the difference this saw has made in accuracy, speed and quality of intricate scroll work. I bought this after many hours of research on brands and reviews on many different saws. The Delta is basically a direct clone of the higher priced yellow and black one with interchangeable parts. This one is $100 cheaper only in price and Home Depot had the best price by far out of anywhere else including Amazon and Lowes, and with free shipping to home it was a no brainer. You can take the extra $$$ and buy other cool tools! I love this saw and can't imagine working without it now. Also have to give a hats off to Home Depot for price, easy ordering and fast shipping! If you think you want to try an entry level scroll saw for $100 or so to learn on, most will work fine but you will soon out grow it or decide you don't like to scroll because of broken projects and rough cutting inaccurate saws. Spend a little more one time on this saw and give it a whirl and you will be hooked and much happier because the difference in saw quality will make entry into scrolling much more pleasant and enjoyable. Not to mention you won't have to buy a better saw after you get hooked, you will already have an awesome Delta Scroll saw! I give this 5 stars plus!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Product broken! My saw arrived with a broken part. I spoke with a Home Depot rep twice, first they relayed my complaint to the company, secondly they followed up to find out why I had not received the replacement part. To date I have still not received the part! I would have sent this saw back but the rep assured me the part would come. I am unhappy with purchasing a new product with a broken part! Can anyone help me???

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great saw I bought this saw to replace a Porter Cable cheapie that literally fell apart last winter in Florida. I liked it so much, I replaced my overpriced, overrated Excalibur up north. Very smooth cut, little vibration, easy to change blades, easy to thread the blades through the project. Only minor problem was the pin that holds the arm up doesn't function on this saw, (It did work on the first saw) 2 1/2 block of wood holds it up just find, and you don't have to reach over the table to disengage it. Best 2 saws I ever have cut with.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Could be a very nice saw I first purchased the 40-694 and had it about 3 weeks when it began to knock badly near the motor area, called delta and was on line for 20 min with no response, so ended up just taking it back. Ordered a 40-695 and have had it 1-1/2 months now and just started making same knocking noise, have called delta again and was on phone for 40 min with no response besides a transfer. Tried again and waited 30 min with no response. Not impressed with customer service. 1-866-999-1499 Technical Questions about Your Product, 1-800-223-7278 Customer Service-related items. I will say that I really enjoyed using both saws, blade clamping is a breeze, tensioning is very easy, and the lock up arm is nice, however does not raise high enough. The saw had little to no vibration and was extremely quiet until the knocking began. Assembly is extremely easy, and a coating of wax on the table is recommended. Since I cannot get anyone to answer questions I am just going to return and try something else

This Delta saw is well worth the money. It is quiet, blade changes are easy and blades clamp well. Very happy with this saw. The only downside? If I make a bad cut, I can no longer blame the saw!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent! I have run this saw through its paces and it has delivered beyond my expectations! This is my second scroll saw but this one is so much better...All the positive reviews say it so much better so I won't repeat what they've already said.
