Answer:
The model 36-5152 has cast iron extension wings and the 36-5052 has steel extension wings. That fact also accounts for the difference in weight as detailed in the specifications for the two saw models.

Answer:
This is a great saw. It vastly outperforms the less-expensive saw it replaced which I used to crosscut and rip oak trim and other hardwoods. I have only used it on pine and on melamine-faced OSB so far, but I have no doubt it will easily handle anything else I throw at it.

Can this saw be operated as a standard 5100 saw if needed in a tight space, adding the extension when needed? How easy is it to add and remove the extension?

Answer:
Hi Oak,
The guide rail for the fence is attached to the extension table.
This makes removing the side table a major project.

Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 2 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by new purchase time will tell on motor replaced a grizzly 1022 contractor saw. the delta is a heavy saw but give yourself 4 or 5 hours for assembly and be careful not to strip or overtighten anything. tip. leave wings a little loose until putting the fence rails on to get a better fit. on mine if you tightened up the wings all the way, they had an 1/8 to 3/16 bow across the table top.. I got the 52" cast wing model. I was a little surprised at the size of the motor. very small. I am used to the larger wound armature induction style belt driven motor which this one is not. motor is comparable to my miter saw motor. hope it holds up for the long term for 1200+ bucks. for 1.3/4 hp 15 amp rating it was a little weaker than my grizzly was which was rated at 1.5 hp. this saw once dialed (fit and finish) in is more accurate than my grizzly which is what I was expecting. Grizzly was a heavy saw also but a little sloppy in accuracy and fit. for those of you who think this is made in usa, which many forums state, I will have to disagree due to the fact that my box says Taiwan. My grizzly was also stamped Taiwan also. another tip, buy a really good blade and keep it sharp. your work and your saw will thank you. I gave it 4 stars based on first impression. time will tell on durability of the motor. May 31, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great table saw for the price!!! As most you do, I spent a lot of time researching my new table saw. I had a portable contractor's saw and needed something more and decided to upgrade. My main focus was accuracy and repeat-ability, and this saw does that and more. I almost purchased the Rigid 4512, but their fence has something to be desired. In my opinion, it was not accurate and easily set wrong. The Delta 36-5152, has a sturdy, dead straight fence that works perfectly. It was a bit more money than I anticipated to spend, but WELL worth it the first project I worked on! Highly recommend!
