Customer Questions & Answers

Should I keep the unit turned on at all times and it will activate itself when it is moist or should I turn it off?

Asked by: David
The only justification for buying a unit with a built in humidity sensor is to trust it and leave it on. You can also start it up anytime by switching it off and on again, but if you planned to leave it off most of the time, you should have bought a less expensive, less complex unit (the humidity sensor may fail or degrade over time)

My unit will no longer shut off completely even after the bathroom has dehumidified and the door is open. It worked fine for about 5 months.

I have made sure that it is set on the blue light setting for dehumidifying. I installed it in a new home 5 months ago and it just stopped working correctly 2 weeks ago. I have flipped the breaker off and back on. There is no residual humidity in the bathroom that would be triggering it to continue. Any suggestions?
Asked by: ftater
Clearly the humidity sensor has failed. It is probably replaceable (I haven't looked to see if they sell the sensor as a repair part), but not without removing the unit from the duct, the wires and the ceiling. At that point is it worth it?

Just had this installed in bathroom remodel and does not work as advertised. Only switches on/off-no light shows for humidity sensing, etc. Was the installation done improperly by the contractor or is it a problem with the unit?
Asked by: Sue
Clearly it is the responsibility of your contractor to show you it works after he installs it. If it runs when you switch on-off-on, it has power and the motor is working. There is no installation issue-you just provide 110 volt grounded power to the unit. It would appear to be a defective unit. A good one displays a blue light whenever powered up, and starts up, displaying a red light, when the humidity sensor sees more than 50% humidity.

However, while quiet compared to any hotel/motel fan I have ever heard, it is still noisy enough to be noticed--and much noisier than one installed last month in a friend's house. If I could, I would install theirs instead. A new installation, we went happily for 53 years without any, until forced by current building codes. It may not be switched on very often--but neither will we bother to change it out.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very good vent fan The Delta Breez Signature Series 80 CFM Humidity Sensing Ceiling Exhaust Bath Fan is a very good fan. Runs quiet and looks good. The mounting features and brackets are just ok. I had to build a 2 x 4 frame from the attic side to mount it properly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great humidity sensing exhaust fan This has been installed for a few weeks now and it has been working perfectly. The exhaust on this unit is larger than my old one (which was probably from the 70s when the house was built), so I had to get a larger exhaust hose, but other than that there were no installation issues. The fan's auto detect mode works great and has a blue light that glows to let you know it's in auto mode, or you can switch it to manual mode (to keep the fan on) and the light will glow orange. You can also just leave the fan off. The fan is also really quiet - I couldn't even tell it was on until I was in the bathroom, and even then it's just a soft whirring.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great fan for small bathroom I'm using this fan for a small bathroom (tub/shower, toilet, sink). It's very quiet (on auto, I can barely hear it running) and vents heat and moisture very quickly. It would have been nice if it had a motion detector built in, but I suspect the more expensive units might. The unit itself was wider than the previous unit, so we had to make a larger hole in the ceiling, but it connected easily to the existing vent duct and power wires.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quiet and great features! This fan was easy to install. Very quiet and easy to toggle from regular fan to humidity fan. In the humidity mode the fan will turn off by itself when all the moisture is out. Also, there are two different lights to determine which mode you are in.
