Hi Ets,
Thank you for your question. Delta Faucet model # 4197-RB-DST can have the handle on either side. If you put the handle on the left side, the hot and cold will be reversed.
Thanks.

What is the mechanism that makes the pull-out sprayer return to its position? After pulling it out to rinse something in the sink, do you have to do something mechanical to get it to retract? How long is the hose/how far across the sink can you pull it out? Thank you.

You just push the sprayer back in - no mechanism. It's very sturdy, not flimsy at all, easy to handle. It doesn't just pop out - you have to pull it out deliberately, and it doesn't spring back, you have to intend to put it back. It doesn't jump in either direction, in other words. Without the sprayer pulled out, the faucet extends 11 inches from the back piece - it comes well out over the sink. I've pulled it out so the end of the faucet is 30 inches out from the back piece - I could spray water straight down onto the floor with it if I wanted to. And it reaches fully from side to side of my 36"-wide double farmhouse sink. Read Less

Answer:
Hi AprilTwoCats,
Thank you for your question. Delta Faucet model # 4197-RB-DST has a steel weight assembly that is designed to help pull and hold the faucet back into position. If this was not included in your box, it can be replaced with model # RP49149. The hose is 54" long but after going through the faucet, you should have around 25"-30" available for reach.
Thanks.

Does the faucet have a spray/stream function? If so, must the buitton be held down continuously for it to work on spray?

Answer:
It does have a spray-stream function. There's a 2-button switch on the underside. You flip from one to the other, don't have to hold down the button.

Answer:
Hi Annediz,
Thank you for your question. Delta Faucet model # 4197-RB-DST does have a spray or stream function. There is a button on the underneath side of the wand to switch the water flow. It will stay in either spray or stream until the user changes it, even when the water is off.
Thanks.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by pull out spray pull out spray not easy to pull out or put back in June 7, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love this faucet This is a beautiful faucet, which seems very sturdy (we've had it for 2 weeks). My husband likes the single handle - when you get just the right temperature, you can nudge the faucet off and then nudge it back on at exactly the same place and the same temperature. I like how high it is and how far it extends over our big farmhouse sink. I also like that it doesn't have a high arc - the faucet just extends out from the back, which makes the spray easier to detach and handle. I can't say how easy it was to install - our plumber did it. We're very pleased with it. May 25, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Kitchen Faucet Definite upgrade from the cheap chrome faucet that come with our home. Install was pretty easy although trying to reach under your sink to the old one can be a bit tricky. Also our sink needed the three hole plate which raised the height of the faucet a bit. Would not recommend this if you have a shallow sink as it will splash water while you use it. May 24, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Looks great! It was easy to install according to my husband and works beautifully. May 3, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Looking Looks very elegant. Was simple to install. We wanted a Victorian style faucet and this fit the bill. Saw in questions about switching sides for handle and someone saying it only swung 120 degrees. Mine swung 360 degrees so valve should be able to be put on either side. If it is on left however the valve will rotate back for hot water, so make sure you have enough room between faucet and back splash. I did not so I put it on the right. Time will tell about finish staying good and valve not leaking. There is, however, a lifetime warranty and valve looks easy to replace. November 6, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by The perfect traditional/modern faucet We updated our countertops to gold venetian granite and bronze hardware. This faucet was the perfect bronze color. It's on the darker side but it still has a few of the lighter gold touches throughout. The lever gives it that traditional look which I really thought made the faucet look unique. The pull out feature had worked our great so far, retracts easily. The soap dispenser didn't come with the faucet so I had to order that separately which was a little annoying. Overall, the quality and use has been exactly what I was hoping for. The install was difficult but that was mostly because we installed a new sink too. October 2, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by beautiful faucet The faucet is attractive and provides a classic and elegant look to the kitchen. April 13, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Cassidy Faucet I love my new Cassidy faucet. It is an excellent choice for a nicely designed faucet at an affordable price. The spout is designed high enough to slide large pots underneath without having to move the faucet while you are washing. It glides to either side of the sink smoothly, the handle is very easy to maneuver and water pressure is strong. My plumber installed it in under 30 minutes, and commented it was a good quality choice. To switch between a stream and spray of water, you simply press a toggle button on the underside of the nozzle. Much easier than my old faucet and not easily visible so it does not take away from the decor. The faucet has a pull-out option and the seal between the nozzle and base is tight (maybe because it's relatively new) - it takes a bit of pulling to loosen the spray nozzle. Although, I rarely need to use this feature since the arc of the faucet covers a large portion of my sink. The only caveat I would offer is that there is a decorative knob at the back of the faucet that protrudes out about an inch, maybe slightly less (see photo). I was fortunate that my plumber was able to set the faucet forward enough in the existing drill hole to clear the granite bar that comes up behind the sink. I'd suggest checking for the appropriate clearance before ordering this model. October 8, 2013
