Delta Classic 1-hole 1-handle bathroom faucet model #521-DST-A, one hole or three hole?

This question is from Classic 4 in. Centerset Single-Handle Bathroom Faucet in Chrome

Name implies one hole is all that needs to be drilled but specifications say it needs three holes drilled. Which is correct as I am having new sink installed and have to tell supplier whether to drill 1 or 3 holes.
Same question on model #520-DST.

Three hole 4 inch center. The center hole has the hot and cold pex lines coming up. The two outside holes have the screw with locknut to hold it in position against the sink.

Thanks for your question. Both of these models require a 3 hole installation. They are both considered a 4 inch centerset.

Answer:
Hi Christina,
The data section in the product listing is a generic format and some specification categories do not apply to some products.
In the case of this faucet, the deck plate is built into the faucet, so a separate deck plate is not included.
The deck plate data usually applies only to kitchen faucets.

Rated 3.7 out of 5 by 38 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by cheap, 2nd leaker out of 3 bathrooms renovated cheap quality, was not expecting this from delta. we renovated 3 bathrooms in the plant, all using this same faucet, and this is the 2nd faucet to develop a leak from inside the faucet. it has plastic tubes coming out, that appear to be pushed up onto barbs, or maybe glued into place. Im not a fan of all of these new faucets coming out with plastic tubes versus the older style of hoses being installed to the faucet. July 6, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Quality for Good Value Fairly great quality, at the right price point.. Self explanatory how to install April 28, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by NOISY I replaced a identical MOEN vanity faucet with this one. You could NOT hear the water running in the next room with the MOEN, with this Delta you could hear the faucet running clear across the house. It is like a jet engine. If you are the type who forgets to shut off the water, this is the faucet to buy because you will NEVER forget to shut this faucet off. I am considering uninstalling this faucet and taking it back to Home depot and replacing it with a MOEN. My suggestion, buy a MOEN until Delta figures out how to make a quieter faucet. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Don't Buy This Faucet Using Consumer Reports parlance for this faucet, I would rate it UNACCEPTABLE. Reason: it provides hot and cold water, yes, but getting warm water to any comfortable degree is extremely difficult. The handle-valve mechanism has an extremely short throw, left to right, end-to-end, and it takes a surgeon's hands and the patience of a saint to get warm water at the degree of comfort desired. I am returning this faucet, even at the expense of having the plumber come back because I simply can't live with this. March 12, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Pretty good, but had an issue. I bought 2 in May of 2014. They look good, work well, and were fairly easy to install. As others mentioned, there is a significant amount of plastic, but that should prevent corrosion issues. (Pretty much any brand has a fair amount of plastic these days) The chrome actually is real metal. I recently started noticing that the chrome was blistering in the same spot on both faucets - an obvious defect. I had saved my paperwork and receipt. (Hint: put them in a ziploc bag and tape them under the sink) I called Delta to explain the issue. They were quite helpful. After I e-mailed them photos of the issue, they agreed to send replacement faucets. Kudos to Delta for taking care of the issue. Thanks Delta! I don't relish the idea of having to crawl back under both sinks to replace them again, but at least I don't have to pay for new faucets. I hope the replacements don't have the same issue down the road. February 12, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by good but the faucet makes a loud shushing sound that can be heard through out the whole house when in the middle position. If in the full cold or full hot no noise. June 12, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Noisy faucet, great 5 inch reach spout Not bad for $50 on "special buy" but noticeably loud on hot, cold and in between - think of toilet filling noise after a flush. Would have chosen a different one had I known it would be this noisy. Bought it for its low set, long reach spout to reduce splash and avoid having to scoop water with shorter spout. Already installed it and don't feel like paying a bit more and repeat the work all over again. Highly recommend testing the noise level first by only hooking up the supply lines (30" long pex) and run it to the drain before it is mounted, aligned and set with silicone. October 14, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Great Faucet Cheap Guts Just purchased two of these bathroom faucets. The appearance/style is great exactly what we were looking for. The down side Delta "cheaped out" on the guts, especially the stopper mechanism. The connecting rods are plastic with a brass nut to lock in place. It does not hold and the treads strip after one tightening. Had to go to Ace Hardware purchase a $5 replace kit and use the metal parts. That worked great installed in minutes and made the overall faucet installation easier and brought the product up to the what should have been in the box. Delta should have done better.
