Answer:
A standard drain will not fit. You can either buy the 85 dollar adjustable jacuzzi drain or extend the pipe 3 inches yourself with additional PVC, which is what I did

"Nick' is dead wrong on this answer. A standard drain assembly will not work on this tub, period. And it gets better. If you buy your Delta Tub at Home Depot, for some reason unknown to mankind, they don't sell the matching drain assembly. I was told they used to but don't anymore. What's wrong with this picture. But wait, there's more! If you had a brass drain assembly, you cannot use a PVC replacement because the drain section of the assembly does not fit into a brass ground pipe! And it seems that it's impossible to get a reducer or adapter that will solve that problem. After two weeks, I'm still trying to get an assembly that will fit the tub and fit the ground pipe. I believe there is one available but I'll end up returning my inexpensive PVC assembly and buying a brass assembly at three times the price. If that doesn't work, I'll be forced to return the tub and start over again. Maybe this is just unique to my situation and (full disclosure) I am DIY'er, not a plumber so factor this information accordingly. A plumber might know exactly what to do about this. Me? Not so much. I just had this tub installed. The installer used a cable drain that has adjustable height from 12"-24" it fits standard or whirlpool tubs. He paid about $85 at Home Depot. I had purchased a standard drain I was told would fit, but it was about 3" too short.

Called Delta and got the same answer as supplied by "Nick". In reality it does not use the normal "standard size" drain assembly. Be sure to purchase a drain assembly that is adjustable beyond the required 16.5 inches and custom fit it to the bathtub.

Hi Louise,
Thank you for your question about the 5 ft. X 32 in. bathtub. The drain you need is a standard size drain that you can get at any hardware store or big box retail store. If you have further questions, feel free to call us at 800-355-2721 or email us at customercare@mascobath.com.
Thanks,

I also sprayed the bottom sides of the tub with Great Stuff foam insulation ( 2 cans ) just up the sides, not the bottom , and the water stays hat of an hour! Happy with the purchase. Don't be scared off by the large gallon capacity. The bottom half is actually much narrower and takes about the same amount of water as a normal tub to fill. Read Less

Rated 3.8 out of 5 by 18 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great for the Price This was our second time to install an acrylic bathtub, so we had a general idea of what we were getting ourselves into. The overall feel & look of the tub are great. It feels solid even if you don't have a mortar base. We needed a mortar base because our slab wasn't even. That said, the instructions say to pour the mortar where needed, set the tub, remove the tub & let the mortar dry (this was complete opposite of what we did before) and it was a disaster!. No way does the tub level out & go back into the exact same spot that you created in the mortar. We ended up chiseling out the mortar to then pour new mortar under the entire base of the tub (not just the non level parts), set the tub & left it there to dry. Although it doesn't say to add the back rail to support the back of the tub if pressed on, we did anyways. Those are the 2 changes that I think should be added to the instructions, but everything else seems to look and work great. August 16, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Decent product for price Decent product and good value. This type of tub is sturdy and not too difficult to install. August 10, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good tub for the money I had to replace my old and heavy bathtub in my condo and this tub was a perfect replacement. As per my contractor it was easy to install. To me looks great. July 26, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great tub for the price I was a little concerned that it would be flimsy when I picked up the tub because it's so light and thin, but once it was installed it was fine. July 26, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love it!!! It's perfect! We needed a replacement for a 1940's pink cast iron tub that had been painted w epoxy a few times and always ended up chipping. It's a deep soaking tub & my husband was able to install it himself. We got the side panels to match & it really gave our bathroom an up to date finish! We are expecting our first child in a few months, so this was a must do project! Very pleased with this product! June 26, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by very good purchase the tub was fine but what i found astounding was the fact that home depot does not sell a drain kit for this tub but i had to buy the closest one and an additional length of tube in order to have the drain that was needed for this tub. July 7, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A product to convert fans of cast-iron bathtubs Bathtubs. Let's say you want a tub on the second floor. Let's say you want a tub that doesn't have that cheap cellophane feeling. The classic approach is cast iron, but you need a couple of gorillas to haul that thing up your stairs. Acrylic bathtubs are pretty amazing this way -- they don't quite feel like cast iron (they're not as stiff), but they do insulate well and have a very similar subtle sheen. It's not quite porcelain, but at something like a quarter the weight, it's a good trade-off. This tub arrived by truck, and its feather-weight meant that it was easily removed from the truck. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by good tub This goes with the surround classic 400. Once installed this is a solid tub. Best thing about this tub is no mortar based is required under the tub. Bright white tub. Lots of room in the tub. June 5, 2015
