why does this faucet require 4 installation holes (model 440-sswe-dst)?

Asked by: Anonymous
One hole is for the waterlines to the faucet, one is for the sprayer, and two are used to anchor the plate to the sink. If you don't want to use the sprayer (don't have the 4th hole to the side, you do get a clip to seal off the line.)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Over all good faucet. I've owned Delta before as a matter of fact the one I replaced was and it is10 years old. It started to leak so obviously I knew it was time... so I bought this one and it resembled it very closely.. I like the change on the neck height- more is good. The only problem is the extremely stiff hose to connect to existing plumbing. I heard all sorts of grunting and gnashing of teeth while it was being installed.. This installer is savvy with plumbing issues and especially easy faucet installations. He did not like this feature. But it is nice in appearance.. performs well so far and it has not been installed long.. I will update this review if necessary.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Cheaply made Faucet - NOT worth the price Do not buy this faucet! I had been told by lots of plumbers over the years that Delta was a good brand so I thought we were making a good investment. Total waste of money and time and stress. We had it installed by a respected plumber. At first it only dripped. He took it out to do tests on the water and made sure it was coming into the house ok, It was, and when he re-installed the faucet it didn't work at all. We had to pay an additional 132$ for him to install another faucet. I returned the broken one to Home Depot and spent 20$ more for a Kohler. You could tell right away it was heavier and had more metal parts. You can shut off the new one from any position - one of the other complaints I just read about in other bad Delta reviews - and it doesn't jiggle in the sink like the other one did. I'm beginning to think there are no really good products being made any more, but I have to say this is one of the worst.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid design and performance It was not easy to find a replacement for our old kitchen faucet with the same hole configuration. The Delta Collins Single-Handle Side Sprayer Kitchen Faucet fit perfectly, looks great, and works beautifully.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Does the Job We bought this to replace the faucet in our kitchen. It works fine and was easy to install. I like the arched faucet but the handle is a bit on the short side, and it must be moved back to center to turn off the water completely. Took about a week to get used to that - our old one shut off from any angle.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Delta, what have you become? Let me start by saying I loved Delta faucets and I have 9 in my home. I needed to replace one after 32 years because the set screw was frozen in place and I couldn't get it out to replace a washer to stop a drip. I wanted a higher set than I had and more extension into the sink, with a removable aerator to accommodate a water filter. Found this...perfect. Normally I do my own installs, but because the lock nuts were also frozen under the sink (32 years to freeze up) I had to get it installed. To make a long story short, the faucet dripped, was very loud, and "wobbled" when the handle was pulled firmly (water was going under the plate). I called Delta and was told the drip and being loud was because of the cartridge and that I might need new nuts under the sink for better tightening. (Now remember, this is a NEW faucet, professionally installed I have NEVER had to replace parts on a NEW faucet before.) Delta has sent the parts, and the installer came back to reinstall the nuts - water no longer goes under the base plate because he added plumbers putty, but the faucet still wobbles somewhat. I have not yet had a chance to replace the cartridge to see if that stops the leak and tones down the noise. Sorry Delta, I can't recommend your products anymore.
