Answer:
One hole is for the waterlines to the faucet, one is for the sprayer, and two are used to anchor the plate to the sink. If you don't want to use the sprayer (don't have the 4th hole to the side, you do get a clip to seal off the line.)

Answer:
Yes - 3 holes under the tap base - only the center hole has water tubes. The adjacent holes are used to tighten the tap onto the sink. The fourth hole is for the separate sprayer head.
As noted, 3 holes sit under the tap - they are spaced 4" apart, and perfectly matched my 30-year old tap that I removed.

If it is leaking under the base plate then you need to remove the spout and you will find a rubber round seal and you need to replace it

Rated 3.5 out of 5 by 22 reviewers.
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Delta, what have you become? Let me start by saying I loved Delta faucets and I have 9 in my home. I needed to replace one after 32 years because the set screw was frozen in place and I couldn't get it out to replace a washer to stop a drip. I wanted a higher set than I had and more extension into the sink, with a removable aerator to accommodate a water filter. Found this...perfect. Normally I do my own installs, but because the lock nuts were also frozen under the sink (32 years to freeze up) I had to get it installed. To make a long story short, the faucet dripped, was very loud, and "wobbled" when the handle was pulled firmly (water was going under the plate). I called Delta and was told the drip and being loud was because of the cartridge and that I might need new nuts under the sink for better tightening. (Now remember, this is a NEW faucet, professionally installed I have NEVER had to replace parts on a NEW faucet before.) Delta has sent the parts, and the installer came back to reinstall the nuts - water no longer goes under the base plate because he added plumbers putty, but the faucet still wobbles somewhat. I have not yet had a chance to replace the cartridge to see if that stops the leak and tones down the noise. Sorry Delta, I can't recommend your products anymore. August 2, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Over all good faucet. I've owned Delta before as a matter of fact the one I replaced was and it is10 years old. It started to leak so obviously I knew it was time... so I bought this one and it resembled it very closely.. I like the change on the neck height- more is good. The only problem is the extremely stiff hose to connect to existing plumbing. I heard all sorts of grunting and gnashing of teeth while it was being installed.. This installer is savvy with plumbing issues and especially easy faucet installations. He did not like this feature. But it is nice in appearance.. performs well so far and it has not been installed long.. I will update this review if necessary. March 18, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great buy The faucet was the best value and very easy to install. The side sprayer has real power not like most. Wished I would have purchased this item sooner than I did. May 20, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by just ok the box it came in was definately opened, not taped up, and looked used. everything was there though. The handle works smoothely but it makes a noise when I turn on the water. I have plumber coming back to look at that and a leak- but I think that's an install problem. April 22, 2014

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Collins Delta Kitchen Faucet - Terrible Had this faucet installed. Terrible water pressure probably due to the way it is set to reduce water usage. If I turn on the faucet, I WANT to use the water. Ridiculous. Also it either gave all hot water or cool to cold water. Did not mix the hot and cold properly, likely due to a "great" feature to reduce risk of scalding. My 10 year old faucet worked better. Had to have this uninstalled and a new Kohler installed, which works perfectly. Returned this product to Home Depot. My plumber also said it was a piece of junk. June 23, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Delta Delta has always been a leader in fine products and this one is no different January 28, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Does the Job We bought this to replace the faucet in our kitchen. It works fine and was easy to install. I like the arched faucet but the handle is a bit on the short side, and it must be moved back to center to turn off the water completely. Took about a week to get used to that - our old one shut off from any angle. January 18, 2012
