Answer:
If you angle the bar you should be able to hit studs on both sides. These are usually angled to accommodate for different user's heights.

I just installed my grab bars and I'm not an expert of any kind in metal. I would expect in time (2 or 3 years) the finish will wear and become less attractive. Not sure I'm much help on this issue. I have accepted the possibility that the bar may deteriorate in time.
Another issue to consider is that the bar is 18 inches long while the studs are usually 16 inches apart. Unless the bar is mounted vertically, the bar will have to be installed diagonally to accommodate the 16 inch centers on the studs. Read Less

Someone complained that there was some kind of problem with them getting wet. I think it depends on the installation. I have two in my shower and they seem fine.

Answer:
You should be able to cut it down. You will have to drill and tap the hole for the bolt that goes through the bracket and into the bar. There is a 16 7/8 distance between the inner 4 screw holes so don't take off more than an inch.

Thank you for your question. Delta Faucet model # DF59318VBR is not recommded to be cut as it will weaken the strength of the bar and void the warranty.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Grab bar Recent remodel to convert tub/shower to shower only and decided to add a grab bar. Contractor installed on a slight angle to accommodate the wall studs. This bar is a great size, and feels very sturdy. The bronze finish looks great. December 30, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by No more worries about slipping Product is very attractive & was easy to install (though I did have a handyman do it). The color was a tad darker than I had expected but does look very nice in our tile shower and makes it safer which is the important thing. December 22, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice, perfect match Just completed a major tile shower renovation. This grab bar is from the same "family" of products of a smaller one we added last year next to the jetted tub. Looks right, very sturdy & the ORB finish is close enough to to what the builder used elsewhere. July 14, 2015
