Loud thumping sound

We purchased this faucet at HD, because we liked the simple clean design. Each time we turned it on, we heard a loud thumping sound, which had something to do w/ the diverter in the sprayer. Took that back, got another one, and the new one does the same thing. I know my husband installed it correctly. Trying to decide if we should just put up w/ it or take it back and try a 3rd one or maybe one w/o the sprayer. It is very aggravating every time I use the faucet to have that loud thumping noise. Do they all do this, and do you think one w/o the sprayer would not do this?

Mine works fine with no thumping sound at all. Could it be your water pressure or air in the line ? See if it does it with the aerator removed. Try it with the water valve (under the sink) half open ! Good luck.

Hi Caron, Thank you for your question. The model B4410LF uses a standard 15/16" male thread aerator. You should be able to hook up a Pur filter without any issues.
Thanks,
Dave

Answer:
Not sure this will help. Some diverters use 1/8" pipe thread. Some use slip fitting with a U-shaped clip to hold the spray hose to the faucet. If it's 1/8" pipe just get a pipe plug or cap and you are all set. If it a slip fitting with a clip you may have to get creative.
Good luck.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by purchase went easy I am a plumber and delta has been a very good faucet August 23, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Simple basic line product Simple base product. Installed in a rental unit. Should last for years August 16, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Delta product, as always. I used Delta for years in Property Management and at home when I could. If you ever need to repair a faucet, you can find individual parts or kits at almost any hardware store and the process is simple. My kitchen faucet/sprayer unit had been changed twice in several years with alternate brands because of pricing or availability. The removal and replacement steps were not always pleasant! Either the removal involved a Dremel cutting tool (purchased at Home Depot) and bruised knuckles, or the installation required contortionist skills. This time, the removal required a "Dremel", but Delta has improved their installation process from very good to "smooth". I almost wanted to take the unit out and re-install it because it was such a joy! The faucet and sprayer look great and perform up to what I expect from Delta. August 16, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good faucet for the price If you're strapped for cash, or have a rental property this is a good faucet. I apprenticed under a plumper for a while and we installed a good amount of delta faucets. I would recommend a faucet with the diamond seal technology. This model doesn't come with a weight for the sprayer so I have to retract the hose manually, and if we turn the faucet up quickly we get water-hammer on the sprayer. with that being said it does its job without costing us extra money. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Problems From The Get Go Very poor quality. Not the traditional quality you would expect from Delta. Have a thumping noise when turning on the water. Sprayer also leaks. Called Delta, told to I needed to "flush" the faucet before install. If this was true, why is it not in the instructions?? Told I needed a replacement part. I thought I bought a new faucet. Guess, I should expect to buy new and repair immediately is the new norm. July 15, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great item for the cost I have installed Delta and have never had any problems June 28, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Poor Quality and thumping noise I normally don’t write reviews but I thought it necessary to warn people to stay away from this faucet. Installed this faucet about 2 weeks ago and it started thumping 1- 3 times (as many of the other reviews say) when you turned on the water hot or cold. As I found out through looking online that this is from the diverter valve. I followed an online recommendation to flush the valve so I took apart this brand new faucet and did that. It didn’t fix the issue. I contacted Delta about the noise and they responded about a day later via email with an order notice that they were sending me new O rings, diverter valve and sprayer hose that was leaking too. The items arrived quickly to Delta’s credit but came with no instructions. Luckily since I had already taken the brand new faucet apart I knew what to do. I replaced the parts and guess what….still thumps… and now when you shut the water off it’s starting to leak around the spigot part and the top cap. The part that aggravates the most is the overall feel of poor quality. When operating the faucet it doesn’t feel like it’s attached to the sink very well. Upon further inspection I found that the base is not moving so much as the upper half of the faucet doesn’t make a good connection with the base which might be the cause of the small leak I described above. It's been this way since day one. They need to tighten the tolerances when manufacturing for a better fit. I always though Delta was the standard for quality faucets but that not the case here. Looks like I will be returning this faucet in the near future and going to a competitor. There are much better things I'd rather be doing with my time off. July 6, 2016
