Answer:
Hello Lyn, The towel bar has a tube that is not fixed into position and “floats” in the posts. This allows ease of installation and in case of adjustment.
The ring on a towel ring is held in place by tension. The ring has a gap/space at the top and is spread open to fit into the holes on the post and the tension keeps it in place. The tension is a byproduct of the material and design. I hope this is

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 4.6 out of 5 by 40 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Quality Towel Bar We had some other towel bars from this line and needed a shorter one for a hand towel. It is easy to install, looks good, and is sturdy. We are pleased with the bar. June 2, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent purchase. Easy to install, looks great, recommend highly if require a towel bar. June 7, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good purchase This item was as I expected it to be. They have matching bathroom fixtures May 17, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Solid product Very high quality towel bar overall. End castings are heavy duty and the quality of the chrome is excellent. Wall mounted brackets are slightly tricky to get just right (don't tighten them down so much that you cannot slip the end castings on the brackets) but that is easy to fix by backing out the screws if needed. I didn't quite nail the spacing of the brackets but that was easily fixed by trimming the bar slightly with tin snips. I will not only recommend, I will likely purchase additional bars. These are not stocked in stores but are available on line. The products arrived when promised and HD went out of the way to make sure I was satisfied. March 1, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Attractive but kid friendly? Pros: Easy to follow instructions. Easy to install. Attractive. The bar seems strong unlike some towel bars I've owned. No sharp ends like some towel bars. I'm older and tend to lose my balance. As such I've fallen against other towel bars with corners and ended up with cuts in my arms and once a dent in my head. These ends are rounded so safer. Cons: This towel bar just slides over the bracket. No way to tighten down like other towel bars. Other towel bars have a hex nut that is tightened so the bar cannot be knocked off. If this bar is hit from the underneath, say by a child (as my grandchildren who are more monkey than human at times have done), the bar can pop up and fall off. Other info: I have not owned this product long enough to address quality or durability. March 31, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent purchase Rather heavy for wallboard, but solid construction and polished brass seems good and should last. Wish there was a paper towel rack in similar design. What more can be said about a towel rack? March 29, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Quality Towel Bar Easy assembly and installation........................... December 29, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by It is very attractive, especially for the price. The only problem was trying to get the set screw out enough to put the ends over the brackets without its falling out (one did), and trying to see what I was doing since the screws go on the underside of the ends, so there I was lying on my back on the cold tile floor. Ouch! I'm 77 years old. Oh, and by the way, I bought a 24" one to match and a friend cut the rod down 2 inches so we could use the same holes in the tile where the old one had been. As far as long-term duration of the shiny chrome finish, well, only time will tell. As far as installation, I would recommend that the brackets come with thin peel-off sticky tape to hold them to the wall so that they won't shift while screwing them in, and the same on the end bars, to keep them from turning so the bar will be perfectly level before finalizing the install with the microscopic set screws. But this is for the manufacturer to do, not Home Depot. April 15, 2014
