Customer Questions & Answers

Hi, would this fit a 36.5in opening? If not, are there any options to make it work without splashing water outside the shower? Thank you.
Asked by: Brutus
The width of the door is variable. I believe mine could be adjusted to fit a 31 to 36 inch width. There were different width sizes available from Delta, the manufacturer. These doors were only available online, and I used the search features to customize my search and find one to fit my shower opening width. There were doors available for wider openings.

If this is a "frameless" door, why does it have a frame? And does it have a metal threshold?

Asked by: meme
"Frameless" is confusing. With shower doors, there are three basic types but more configurations. You have: A. The original older style that had a metal frame around the swinging part of the door as well as a metal frame screwed into the shower wall. Glass is usually 3/16" thick. The frame around the glass makes the glass potentially more stable and the frame that is screwed into the shower opening keeps water from getting out and supports the glass door. B. A swinging door that has no frame around the 3/16" glass (thus "frameless) but does have a frame that is attached to the shower opening. This frame: 1. Keeps water from coming out onto the floor 2. Holds the hinge pins that allow the door to swing 3. Holds the small extra pane of glass that runs the height of the door near the hinges that also prevents water from leaking out onto floor. This pane is about 7" x 65". The hinges for the door are not on the ends of the door, but in the top and bottom of door, about 8" inches in from end. C. Lastly you have very high end, truly "frameless" doors in which you have no frame around the glass and no frame to attach to the shower opening. These might be 3/8" - 1/2" glass supported only by a couple of hinges into the shower opening. This model you are asking about has a metal frame to hold the door, but no metal frame around the glass itself ("B" above.) That frame is made up of several pieces and surrounds the door. You have the pieces that screw into the walls of the shower opening. You have the metal metal "header" that holds the top hinge pin in place, and yes, you have a metal threshold that screws into the bottom of the shower opening. But when you open the door, you are only opening a door of glass, not glass surrounded by a metal frame, so it is a cleaner, more beautiful look, in some person's opinion. Hopefully that makes sense.

Will this Delta door fit on a Sterling shower enclosure?

Sterling Accord shower enclosure 36"
Asked by: ellie
Hello ellie, Thank you for your question about our Pivoting Door. I am not very familiar with the Sterling shower enclosures, but as long as the distance from wall to wall is between 31 1/4" to 36", our door should fit. If you have any other questions, please call us at 1-800-964-4850. Thank you, John Delta Shower Doors

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Took My Time To Install I needed to replace the existing shower door unit as part of the home inspection addendum on the sale of my mom's house. The old unit did not have a header so there was no problem with taller people entering the ~ 3' square shower stall. All of the similar shower door unit replacements without headers (basically frameless units) were very expensive so I decided to purchase the 66" tall Panache, which is affiliated with Delta. I read the entire directions a couple times through before attempting the installation since I never installed a shower door unit before. My level of expertise is a Do-It-Yourselfer. I found a couple of typos that incorrectly referenced a part but it was obvious of what it should be. Make sure that you have all the tools that they call out in the directions. I didn't have a 5/16" drill bit and used a 1/4" one that I had to make work. Also didn't have a miter box so I had to be extra careful when making the two aluminum cuts (for the Header & Sill) to keep them square. The design was good, especially the adjustable part (N) that enabled you to make the strike jam plumb, which in my case was just about a 1/2" off. I would make the following design changes/additions: 1) the rubber bumper stop on the bottom track may not be adequate if the door is swung open too far with a little force, and 2) another screw hole should be added on the Header side opposite of the one that already exists to secure the Header to the wall jamb. Hopefully the new owners get to enjoy the newly installed unit and can admire the attractive frameless rain glass shower door texture. I'm 5'-11" and entering and exiting the unit was not a problem. If you're 6'-2" or taller you'll have to duck.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good product for the money Pros: 1. Was fairly logical to assemble with pretty good directions. 2. Door looks beautiful and works well. Cons: 1.Had to special order - long wait time and came in at the very end of their 10-14 day ETA or perhaps a fews days after. 2. One track was bent. We were able to use, but not happy. 3. Instructions are only for a left hand swing door. We had to install ours as a right hand, so you have a 50% chance of having the instructions correct for your install (you just have to reverse the view of the instructions in your mind.) 4. One of the instructions was actually wrong. Fortunately we figured it out before spending extra hours on that. 5. Provided with one small screw less than needed - Will have to purchase and install that later. 6. The door is called brushed nickel, but does not completely match all of our other brushed nickel accessories in the bathroom. It is more like in between bronze/brushed nickel - beautiful, but noticeably darker than every other 'brushed nickel" accessory in the home. 7. Took two persons familiar with construction/maintenance about 3.5 hours to install, which seemed too long. Now that we've done it, one of us could probably install the same exact door in about 2 hours or so. The above being said, I am almost a perfectionist, so I tend to be critical. Others might rate the door higher. Hope this is helpful to you.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Handyman says GOOD product! I'm a Florida homeowner that lives in CA so ordered door based on reviews. Handyman says install was easy and quality weight and look was not cheesy. Tenants are happy and so am I since I ordered sight unseen.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it!! The first shower door shattered when it was being installed. I'm guessing it was damaged in transit. Home Depot replaced the door... they still haven't picked up the old one & given me a refund yet but that should happen this week. They billed me for this new door less 20%. I appreciated the gesture but will appreciate it even more when I receive my refund from the original purchase. The new door was installed today and looks as beautiful as I imagined it would. My handy man said it was difficult to install though... but the video did help. A friend's extra hands helped too. When I receive the refund credit I'll be 100% satisfied.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice door that looks good This door was a replacement and used on a reglazed shower. Directions were easy to follow with images and good word description of the steps. Final adjustment to fit the door space was not too difficult, but it does require a bit of work in moving pivot points in some cases. Brushed nickel finish looks good.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from delta pivoting shower door way to many pieces to handle,,,, that's why delta has a video because im sure there were way to many take backs, if a guy installed these doors all day long it may be more easier to install, but the frustrations of trying to put all this together really sucks,,i just put my whole shower door and pieces in the trash can and bought a shower curtain ,,, ,way less stress .. I would not give this set up to my worst enemy.
