I built this stand with simple pressure treated 2 x 4's (sawed in half). It was easy to build and works as advertised. It allows the saw to be easily moved with just a touch of your foot. When you release the front roller, the saw drops onto the base's rubber feet and remains stationary.
I have used these Delta mobile bases for my table saw and band saws as well. One is over 15 year's old and still works flawlessly. I recommend this product to anyone with heavy equipment that needs to be moved around to save space.

This seems to be a very well-designed system of assembly parts that you build to size with your own pieces of hardwood. The only problem I had was not considering the footprint size of the tool (Ridgid Jointer) upon which it was to rest. There is a clever foot pedal arrangement which rests at one end of the assembly, and is used to raise and lower a wheel for either mobility or solid floor stability. The router I bought was too narrow at each end to allow room for the lifting wheel assembly. But two fixed wheels on the other end work fine, and all I have to do is lift the other end and move the unit around. PLEASE NOTE to consider the footprint size of your tool before ordering this product.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by vr Good, solid base.
This Delta Universal Base is solidly constructed and operates well. The size adaptability requires a tad more work in cutting the connecting boards to size but this very feature of custom sizing is great. I cut the wood pieces from heavy duty oak pallet boards and am using this base on a Delta table saw. I added a shelf from my old homemade base and fastened everything down with nuts and bolts. It does what it is supposed to do and I highly recommend it. I shopped around quite a bit and Home Depot had the best price.

Only problem was that the manual called for so many nuts and bolts and they did not pack enough of them. The manual needs to be updated so that the proper amount of nuts and bolts are packaged had to stop and buy some more. After it was put together it works like a dream.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Woodworker Good machine base
Base is made of heavy gauge steel and coated well. Wheels and hardware are sufficient. However if you are going to be moving the machine allot then a better system may be in order as the front caster wheel seems to pull from side to side when you are moving it. SO it's not impossible to move but it is a bit cumbersome.
I mounted a delta oscillating spindle sander on this base, so it's probably at the high end of the weight rating.
The foot pedal does work well though. and after making the wood base and finishing it, then swapping the hex nuts provided for acorn nuts it actually looks pretty cool too.

A lot of assembly involved, but I wanted to have to choice of hardwood rails instead of metal. Of course that adds $25 to the assembled price. Would be nice if the kit included cut-to-length hardwood rails.

Product parts made well from good quality steel, plus wheels. These are the 4 corners and the step to raise and lower the device. Just add your own wood on the 4 sides to fit your particular machine footprint. Easy enough. It asks for 2 x 2 (actual 1 1/2 x 1 1/2) oak or similar strong wood. A little hard to find. I was able to buy 2 x 1 oak (1 1/2 x 3/4) and just double it up. Buy 2 pieces about 6 or 8 ft and glue them together with some white glue. (You don't need the strength). Cut them to your size after the glue dries. Just be sure to bolt thru the double pieces with the included bolts. When your base is complete just set your tool on top of the metal corners. Probably best with the foot pedal at the rear out of your way when working. Be sure to put the pedal on the short or long side depending on how your machine is sized.

I have a pair of similar units from a wood-worker specialty store that I bought about 10 years ago. Very happy with them. These Delta units were considerably less expensive and I had a couple of more tools that needed to be mobile so I bought two. The lifting caster mechanism is not designed correctly and will barely lift its end of the unit, or not lift it at all. I emailed Delta's customer service explaining what I saw as the problem, included pictures and asked if I was overlooking something or if there was a simple fix to the problem. They never replied. THEY NEVER REPLIED! I took them back to Home Depot where I got a no-hassle refund (I like Home Depot. This was not their problem). I then ordered a pair from the specialty store. Now I have 4 that I am very happy with.
