I was initially concerned that this tool is all plastic and wouldnt hold up over time, but its not an expensive item so what the heck. At this point I have probably punched a couple dozen holes with this tool and I'm happy to report it is holding up well. it is somewhat more convenient to use than the straight punch, especially if your hands are muddy and slippery, so in my assessment worth the additional cost.
Please note: This tool (OR the straight punch variety) IS vital to making a proper hole in your drip line. if you don't, at some point you'll be sorry as the connector will pop out or leak excessively.

I feel that this tool is worth the extra money over the cheap push-style punch. It make putting holes in 1/2" sprinkler tubing a breeze.

This punch works so well that the job of laying a new drip system was finished before my coffee cooled in my cup.
If this tool should Ever break I Will Get Another..... For Sure!

This is a REQUIRED buy if you want to put 1/4" barbed connectors into your 1/2" tubing. Don't assume you can just press the barbs in. You will be very disappointed. This is a high quality, low energy hole punch and it does its job very well. Pressed hundreds of holes today, it got wet, it got sand in it, and it kept going. It did start to shed the little plastic dots from the punched holes after a while. They accumulate in the handle of the device. Its not really a problem, if they gunk up then just beat it on your boot to knock them out. I can't figure out if it comes apart to clean, maybe it does. I'm lazy.
If I keep it well stored, I'll use it next year as well.

Reading some of the reviews my expectations weren't very high, but I'm glad I purchased this hole punch. Even in the warmed tubing, if I rotate the punch slightly as I'm applying pressure I get a perfect hole every time. My only suggestion would be to look at the hole you punch each time to make sure the 'plug, you cut isn't still there. If so, remove it and you are good to go. I'd recommend without reservations. Sure makes the job easier.
