Customer Questions & Answers

will these work on a door

so that the bottom of the mini blind can be fastened to the door so it doesn't fly away when you open or close the door
Asked by: Robert
Thank you for your recent inquiry with The Home Depot. Yes you could use the blinds on a door. If the door is able to take the mounting brackets you can use it on the door. You would have to have a frame on the door window as thick as a standard home window frame. We appreciate your business and look forward to serving you in the future. Thank you for shopping Home Depot.

Vanilla 1 in. Room Darkening Vinyl Mini Blind - 48 in. W x 64 in. L is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 27.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Blind Overall good rating, but they really aren't 'room darkening' blinds. Well, not any darker than normal mini blinds, so you might save a buck or two on their regular mini blinds.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Brackets are not standard style; not too much darker I bought these to help block the morning sun better than the regular 1" blinds that you can buy for under $4 in most places. These had to be special ordered because my local stores do not carry them. I'm not terribly impressed, though. First, the brackets that come with this item are not the same as those U-shaped brackets that come with the cheapo blinds. Thus, if you are upgrading like I am, you have to drill completely new holes in new places (on the face of your window frame, not in the corners). I half successfully retrofitted these new blinds into the existing brackets, but only time (and copious amounts of opening and closing and tugging on the cord) will tell if the headrail will stay in the old existing brackets I have. The darkening effect is, well, more dark than the cheapo ones I have, but I can't say it's worth drilling in new brackets or the added cost. I'd rather find room darkening shades that fit the brackets and show a more palpable decrease in light. Still not sure if I'm keeping them, but I gotta say, there's probably something better out there. I have an existing Roman Shade that I will use over top of these blinds to keep out more light. I bought these not for my personal bedroom, but for a guest bedroom/home office on the other side of my house that faces east (morning sun). If you're looking to completely block the morning light or heat, these are not the shades you're looking for.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from The absolute most horrifying experience The installation of these blinds are major pain on a neck. The blinds don't fit regular corner brackets, so we had to drill new holes facing the window as shown in the instruction sheet. Were not able to place them into the brackets, because no matter what you do it just wouldn't snap. We thought the brackets were mounted incorrectly, so we had to deinstall the bracakets and mount them in the corner as the regular once. The 30 in blinds, that always worked for our windows seemed to be not wide enough to reach from one corner to another. It's been two days now, and we still haven't installed it. Home depot you should put an installation video specifically for these mini-blinds to help customers further on.
