Rated 4 out of 5Â by Givemeabreak Dens shield Tile Backer
The product is exactly as advertised. Cuts and installs like Drywall, but is waterproof. Only need to seal the seams and screw holes with something like Laticrete Hydro Barrier and microfiber fiberglass tape(not drywall tape). I learned a lot by watching Tilemasterga's YouTube videos.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by Rose Highly recommend for countertops and floors
Have used Durock and DensShield in the past. Durock is very heavy, hard to cut, sharp and we were not able to find it in thinner pieces. Used Durock on our first project over 10 years ago on an entry floor as we didn't know about DensShield. Had to use thicker piece and even after raising door up as far as possible and trimming still not enough clearance for a rug. Had we been able to use DensShield we wouldn't have had to trim and could fit a rug. Have used DensShield on a kitchen floor, bathroom floor and two bathroom countertops, age of projects from about 3 years ago to nearly 10 years ago, under ceramic, porcelain and travertine and no issues at all about wear, adhesion, etc. Easy to transport, cut, screw into, etc. No dust issues when cutting. Revisited options including Hardie as we prepare for another large kitchen project and have chosen to use DensShield again. Don't know if this is recommended for wet applications like shower/tub walls though.

This is a rigid tile backer that cuts and installs like regular drywall. When installed right it is virtually waterproof. Once tile is adhered it will not come off.
