Hi Scott,

This single sided deadbolt has only one control and it is on the inside. There is no accommodation for access to it from the outside of the door.
To install it, you drill a one-and-five-eighths (1-5/8'') inch round hole from the inside of the door, but not all the way through the door. You cannot utilize an existing hole from a previous deadbolt.
This ensures the utmost in security, since there is no access to the lock from the outside. It is only accessible from the inside.
I posted a picture from the installation guide showing the positioning.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good quality product The product was slightly different from the dead bolt I replaced and required a little modification to the door ( carved some wood off the door deadbolt cavity). Otherwise it was an easy install. November 29, 2011
