Answer:
This is a standard 3" in diameter pole. Most lanterns will fit over it. Holes on the lantern may not line up with the pole, but I used an electric drill with metal drill bit to drill small holes into the pole and then used the screws that came with the lantern too secure it further. Either way with or without the screws the lantern fits far enough down the pole that it isn't going to blow off.

Answer:
Hi Susan, and thanks for your question. This lamp post will accept any post light that has a 3 inch base. It’s a hollow pole, so no, doesn’t have to be punched out.

If and when the photo eye 'dies', will the light post work with the on/off switch or do I have to replace the photoeye?

This question is from 6-2/3 ft. Black Lamp Post with Cross Arm and Photo Eye

When I purchased the post, I was told the photo eye was like a motion sensor - that the lamp lights up when a person or car passes the sensor. I thought this was a fabulous feature! However, now I am learning that the light will stay on all night long - which means my electric bill will go up! To deactivate photo eye, do I need electrician to come back and disconnect it...so I can use as a standard post with on/off switch?

Customer Reviews

Rated 2.3 out of 5 by 3 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Attractive lamp and post The lamp was very attractive and easy to install. The older ones of these were constructed differently. The newer ones require that you unscrew 4 small screws on the underside of the lid to open and change light bulbs. The older ones all you had to do was take the top finial off and lift off the lid. The new style is a pain. You can easily loose the little screws. August 16, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by damaged, ends out of round had to return Product was originally well made, but arrived unusable. June 22, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Not happy with the plug installation The plug had to be installed upside down therefore I cannot use any of my timers with it for my Christmas lights. It is not exactly of high quality either. January 24, 2012
