Customer Questions & Answers

how do I change a bulb in this type of fixture

Asked by: bbrill
Start by using an LED bulb that won't need replacing for years and years. Then, just remove the ring from the unit by pulling straight down on it. It has springs holding it in place.

Do I need to remove the other rim that's there? It is not the exact set up. May be all one piece. My lens cover was plastic & caught onto 2 grooves inside the fixture.which I turned slightly to "catch", All else looks same from exterior.

You will insert this lens and cover over the existing recessed light. Any trim in the existing light must be removed. I don't know whether the overall diameter of the ring around the lens will be identical to the one you remove -- you'll just have to see. If they

My question is the same. My poly-carbonate lens cover snapped into a metal housing that had a recessed rim 1 1/2" above the opening that circled all the way around the inside of the housing. The recessed rim is where the rim of the poly carbonate lens was supposed to sit, and the poly-carbonate lens cover was held in place with 2 raised bumps (one above the rim and the other below the rim directly in line with each other, repeated in 3 areas around the rim. The inside of the housing measures 5-5/16" across. the hight of the housing is 5-3/4". I wish there was a secondary picture showing hos the Design House recessed lighting shower trim connects to the housing. I've tried similar fixtures that have 2 rigid metal 'V' shaped wires that are supposed to snap into holes in the housing. In my case, there aren't any holes in the existing housing for the 'V' shaped wires to snap into. I know I'm not the only one trying to replace the plastic lens cover, so I'm going to buy this one and then get back with a review to tell people if it worked or not.

6 in. White Recessed Lighting Shower Trim with Poly-Carbonate Drop Lens is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great trim ring for shower light This was just what I was looking for, a semi-drop type trim ring that could be used in a wet area. It seems well made and very easy to install. The ring itself is metal and the shade is plastic. It looks great and helps spread the light, as opposed to strictly a down light.

Having the lens reaching into the illuminated space provides a wider angle of light and looks better than having the lens flush against the ceiling. It was surprising to me that this was less expensive, but thems the breaks.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from this light cover is a little better than the one I replaced because it lets more light through. looks okay fairly easy to install and lets in enough light. Price was reasonable.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good replacement option Comes complete with the squeeze springs for easy mounting. Looks good on my white ceiling. The poly-carb lens is white opaque, gives adequate light and didn't break when i dropped it. The spring is attached to the metal rim with fold over tabs rather than the original I replaced that had a plastic rim with slots that snapped off while changing the bulb. Granted, it was eight years old. Decent quality. Decent replacement product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Seems like a great product at a great price! I am using it in the hot room of an outdoor sauna. I had the temperature up to 190F in the room and the trim seems to handle it just fine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple cost effective solution. This product works great. I thought at first that I needed to purchase an entire canister, however, this cover worked perfect in my existing one. Easy fix!!
