Customer Questions & Answers

Is this made from solid pieces of wood or some composite/laminate?

I am astonished by how many "wooden" toilet seats are being passed off as solid wood, despite being laminate or veneer over recycled composite. Before buying this item I would simply like to hear from someone who has actually received it that it is in fact constructed from solid pieces of wood and not random bits of wood glued together.

Are hinges solid metal or metal covered plastic?

Asked by: CR
The hinges appear to be brass plated metal. They have the feel and heft of metal.

Dalton Round Closed Front Toilet Seat in Honey Oak is rated 3.5 out of 5 by 34.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Favorite seat Still one of my favorite seats. For lower height toilets it makes you feel like it's not as low as it is. It has an attractive look to it since my bathroom cabinets are of oak color, and lasts for years if you don't drop the lid when closing and split the wood.

I just picked this unit up at Home Depot (shipped) and as a result of previous reviews I inspected it for damage - no damage visible, it was packaged well. Installed easily, and looks great. My one criticism is with the hardware provided - I opted to use all my old toilet seat hardware, because the new seat provided a steel nut and bolt (brass plated) and this was a disaster waiting to happen for the next person trying to remove it years down the road. A nylon material hand tightened nut should be used to avoid potential rust binding. Also, it appears the new hardware is metric....not uncommon, but make sure you have the proper tools for assembly.

Although the seat was natural wood and sturdily built., there were a few things that I was not happy with. 1. The end pieces for the mount were not identical. One was at an angle and could not be adjusted therefore it will always be noticed. 2. There were two dark spots already on the bottom of the seat in an area that one would assume was bodily materials. These were not a part of the wood grain but part of the finishing process,

I would never recoommend this product to anyone and Home Depot return policy for this item is awful. We were told we would have to buy a new toilet seat before we could get reimbursed for the broken one. I will never shop on line at Home Depot again.
