The unit was easy to install and worked well until I had to open it to replace the batteries. After replacing the batteries, and putting the cover back on, it consistently plays "Install Cover". I've played around with the cover and got it to work sometime but most of the time it doesn't. I'm going to try using some tape to keep the cover switch engaged at all times. This way it will work when the cover is on or off. I wouldn't buy from this company again. There are many other choices out there.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Ac Just installed yeaterday, so far is good.
I just put in this doorbell yesterday. I like that it has ten different chime options, including two of them being Christmas songs and one being happy birthday. Once installed it wouldn't quit chiming. Looked in the manual said it was probably have interference. It was. With the other doorbell on the second floor. Since I don't want the other doorbell location, I disconnected that one. And will just have this new one. Since it is new, I shall see how long it runs for. I don't much care for the semi-transparent splash look of the little window. I can see the mechanisms behind. I might paint it white do it is opaque. I do like the craftsman style look to it and the color of the "wood" which is really plastic.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by aandersonelp So far unit works as advertised
Purchased this unit 12/14/13, Installed same day in approximately 30 minutes (wired installation). In the box this doorbell looks really nice, installed it's fairly cheap looking plastic, but still looked better than the doorbell I replaced. During my first test I did get the install cover message, reinstalled and have had no problems. (The cover key must fit directly into the base slot to press the cover button.) Attaching the diode was straight forward, easy and I was able to make it work with a 5/8 drilled hole. At a cost of 59 dollars plus 10 dollars for the ringer, I did expect a better quality product, more melody and ring selections, and a cover that looks a little better than cheap plastic.
I will keep this unit because it does work and its looks far better than what I had. With a little frosted glass transparent spray paint on the plastic cover you can do what Heath Zenith should of done in production.
Pros: Easy Installation, Adjustable Volume, Wireless Capability, Nice Design
Cons: Cover looks like cheap plastic, Cover must be removed to adjust the volume or change tones, Limited rings and melodies.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Frank Worst purchase I ever made
After installation, the "closed the door" voice did not stop. Need to add pressure with a human to make it stop while I tested the button. Installed the diode but constantly rang. Rang so much that my new transformer blew. Replace the transformer and re-check the wiring and change the diode. Still range constantly. Took off the diode and the constant ringing stopped. But could not get more than the double "ding dong" sound. Packed it up after two days of trying to make it work.

Terrible product that didn't last 6 months. I would not recommend this product.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by MrC847 please discontinue this product!
I only **wish** I read the reviews on here before purchasing this thing. For the price I paid this is one of the worst products I can remember buying in a long time. Allow me to detail why.
1) Basic functionality. When installing the cover in the slot as you should, it locks into place and you set it on your wall ready to go. Easy right? Except the 2 dreaded words anyone using this come out, "Install cover". After several attempts to re-install the cover and hearing those 2 words again, I shouted back, "I did install the cover!". This did not fix it.
2) There is no battery cover. When installing 3 D batteries and moving this around, those batteries are heavy. Not having a basic item like a battery cover was frustrating so I had to duct tape the back over the batteries.
3) There is only one hook in the back to hang this up. With the heavy batteries needed, one hook makes it hard to keep level.
At certain points I've been able to "trick" the device to install properly and hey, it's actually a good doorbell chime. I like the variety of chimes. But then it will stop working again. I'll install new batteries in both the doorbell chime and push button device and still it's a guessing game. It works when it wants to. Well that doesn't work for me.
Why oh why did I buy this product? I thankfully kept all the original packaging and hope Home Depot will accept my return.
To those of you looking for a nice wireless doorbell chime...DO NO BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by minuteman01776 Worst door bell ever
This is easy enough to install, but once mounted, the cover tends to fail making certain contacts, such that rather than a chime, you get a digitized voice advising you to close the enclosure.
This is a waste of money. Cheap plastic of low quality. I'd recommend avoiding.

Like others, the replace cover part is annoying so I won't go into that.
What I like - The door chimes are nice (I really like the Happy Birthday as that would be a cool surprise on my daughters' birthdays). Although really cheap plastic, it looks good from a distance.
What I don't Like - The replace cover issue. The wireless works maybe 25 feet. The doorbell stopped working after a day. Overpriced for what it is. The HUGE wireless door bell button itself (really ugly).
Save your money and a lot of frustration, buy something else...like maybe a brass door knocker!!! Unfortunately, I threw out the box so I am stuck with $75 of broken junk. :(
