Customer Questions & Answers

I'm wondering how much amperage is needed to drill with a 1-3/8" forstner bit.

I plan to make a lot of cabinet doors and want to buy a drill press instead of using my hand held drill like I usually do. But, I want to get on that has plenty of power.

I use my cordless 3/8" drill. You have to go slow...but it works

Will a forstner bit work in marine starboard (high density polypropolene).

I need to make flat-bottomed holes to recess small t-nuts.
Asked by: Smitty
I would suspect it would very well. I have used Forstners on Oak, maple, plywood. Polyprop is dense, but less tenacious than wood.

1-3/8 in. High-Speed Steel Forstner Bit is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 27.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worked great for cabinet door hinge recesses I needed to move drill some holes for oak cabinet doors I was mounting. This made the recessed hole just the right size without any point going all the way through the wood. I would recommend a drill press though it worked well with a steady grip on a slow drill with an extra handle.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cuts through oak like butter It takes about 5 to 10 seconds to a drill a bore hole in a solid oak cabinet door using this bit in a 18v battery powered drill. This was a big improvement over lower quality forstener bits I've used in the past.

I have used different brands of this same style bit and this by far produced the fastest and cleanest bored holes.
