What is the blade thickness? What is the cut capacity (5" branch?)

Asked by: georgia
Not sure how thick the blade is, but not thick enough in my opinion. Blade is easily bent. I haven't tried to cut anything larger than 7" diameter logs but it had no problem doing that.

To be fair, at 4.97$ these are fairly expensive individually and not worth the price unless purchased in the five pack which is frequently unavailable in my local store.  It's caused me to purchase in bulk, as they are extremely handy blades especially when coupled with the Ryobi ONE+ Cordless Reciprocating Saw (Model # P516 |  Internet #206824275 | Store SKU #1001704828.)  These blades have a decent lifespan, measured in a few hours of continuous use before they begin to dull and you can expect to see a noticeable difference in performance.  I use these blades religiously at both my main residence and at a smaller off-grid property I manage for recreation for light to heavy duty yardwork, brush clean-up, and cutting new trails.

Useful in Cordless Reciprocating Saw This blade converts a cordless reciprocating saw into an exceptional pruning saw. It is much easier and faster than using a hand pruning saw. I now use my cordless reciprocating saw more for pruning than for its original intent. It cuts up to at least 4" diameter limbs or trunks with ease on softer woods. It struggles a bit on harder woods with larger diameters. For those situations, I have found that a sharp demolition blade works better because it is stiffer. If this blade were as thick and sturdy as a demolition blade, it would likely work equally as well on hard and soft woods.

Fleam Ground/Pruning Reciprocating Saw Blade transforms a cordless reciprocating saw into a powerful pruning saw. It works better than a chain saw for trees and bushes up to at least 6" in diameter. It cuts dogwoods without much difficulty. After using for an hour on various trees and bushes, it was still sharp. It is much better than that brand of pruning saw blade that HD carried previously in its stores. It also comes in a 12" length for larger trees and bushes.

Diablo has a winner with these blades, it cuts smoothly, doesn't grab and is perfect for pruning operations. It is definitely safer than using a chainsaw in many cases. I don't hesitate to use it to remove 6 or 7 inch diameter trees or shrubs and changing one of these blade is a whole lot easier than changing a chainsaw chain. They work great for cutting back to the ground, they will bend instead of shatter which is much safer.

The blade was used to cut out the roots of a live oak tree that had been cut down. The roots were sending up hundreds of saplings. The roots were a dense mass that was about 6 to 8 inches thick. There were also roots coming off of the stump. The blade held up well even in the dirt. I had tried combination blades which were for wood and metal, but they dulled down to quickly.

I've found these blades to be made of good steel and hold their edge on the teeth for longer for cutting tree limbs up to 8" in diameter. They cut fast enough even when using a battery powered reciprocating saw which doesn't have a long life to begin with when compared to an electric powered reciprocating saw. The 5 pack offers them at very affordable prices.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does a great job I got these blades to cut through some wet lumber. They did a great job cutting it up into smaller pieces to be thrown away. I have not used them for pruning purposes yet but I know that they will work great with that as well. They would not be good if you are cutting wood with a lot of nails though so be aware if you were to use them for demo projects
