Customer Questions & Answers

Will this work for laminate flooring?

Asked by: Steve
NO, NO and sometimes yes. 95% of Laminates have special coatings on them that build up on the blade and dull them out incredibly quick. They make blades specifically for laminate flooring. You will go though at least a blade or more a house and it starts burring its way though the laminate. This is from my professional experience as a General Contractor.

how is this blade for cuttig laminate

Asked by: hans
I have used this and many other 60 tooth blades for cutting laminate over the years and the best advise I can offer is to keep the blade low so the tooth is hitting the material perpendicular to the blade and feed the laminate slowly. Be sure to add an auxiliary fence if there is a gap between your fence and the saw deck if the gap is enough that the laminate can slip beneath the fence. Keep the blade a 1/4 to 3/8 of an inch above the deck when making the cut and you should be good.

I own a couple other Diablo blades, and found them to be of excellent quality, so when I recently bought a new 12-inch miter saw, I immediately chose this 100-tooth Diablo blade to go with it. Yes, it cost more than the cheaper blades they had available, but this really is a case where you get what you pay for! Diablo makes great blades, and this one is no exception! Thanks Diablo, and Home Depot!

I do not know if I just bought a defective one but based on my experience I would not recommend this blade at all. After less then 20 cuts the blade is splintering one side of the cut, ruining the wood on that size. I have to say I was expecting much more from this blade. The blade I used before, costing much less, lasted through 100s of cuts and it still not as dull as this blade.

As you can see in sample trim cut image, the blade does splinter on the up stroke. So make sure that is the back of the work. Cuts a 2x4 like butter, of course, and provides a nice, super-clean edge with which to work later. Yep... "flawless" claim issue notwithstanding, the Daiblo 12" x 100 is a solid addition to the workshop.

Buying some parts for a project. Stopped in the Tool Dept. Looked at the selection of 10" Blades. Saw this one. Asked the Associate for advice. Bought this one. Used it for a couple of quick Trim Cuts on 3/4" Particle Board. Went though like nothing. And came out very smooth.

Have noticed some blade flex during cutting. Not really a "glue line rip" quality blade. However, for the price, the cut is not bad.

I have purchased other Diablo 10" saw blade from Home Depot in the past with them working just fine. Yesterday a Purchased a 10" 84 tooth which I thought I was get a New 90 tooth (my mistake). Anyway I installed it in my table saw and used a micrometer to measure a 1/4" using my fence. Made the cut and it was less than a 1/4". So I adjusted the fence and when I turned it on and it started to spin I noticed it wasn't straight. I powered it down and saw that it wasn't spinning in a straight line. I removed the blade and put a small square across it and sure enough on one side it was flat and on the other I could see daylight. I returned it today and got the 90 tooth this time. Installed it and same thing, but not as bad. I got my gauge out to see how bad it was. I set it to zero on one side and then hand turned it to the opposite side and it read 12 (pics attached). I can live with this by marking the sides so I can hand turn it to that mark to get the correct size cut that I want. I reinstalled my old Diablo blade 80 tooth and it was the same way, but not as bad as the two I just tried. This explains why I always seemed to have to do a little adjusting to get the correct cut. Going to use this one till it need to be replaced and then I'm going to try a different brand. I do like the way they cut. The wood has a smooth edge to them. I ran some Oak, Cherry, Maple, Purple & Red Heart, Lignum Vitae, Mahogany, Orange Osage, Canary wood and others through it today and it handled all of them just fine. Happy with the cut, but not what it does to my measurements.

As described on the packaging, this blade "cut like a hot knife through butter." I used it for a variety of wood trim, as well as laminate flooring, in a mitre saw. My only complaint is that the laminate floor seemed to dull the blade prematurely. After cutting the laminate, the blade was basically just burning through my wood trim instead of slicing nicely. There is a blade designed for pergo (laminate) flooring, but that was at least 3x the price of this blade, so unless I was doing a whole house it wouldn't have been worth it.
