Product Overview

Specially designed for cutting composite material, the 12 in. x 84-Tooth Diablo TrexBlade features Modified Triple Chip Grind tooth geometry for exceptional durability in cutting highly abrasive materials. Constructed with TiCo Hi-Density special-blend carbide, this durable blade is outfitted with 84 teeth to make smooth, finely finished cuts in deck boards, giving outdoor retreats a polished look. The Perma-SHIELD nonstick coating reduces drag while stabilizer vents absorb noise and vibration to keep the blade straight. An ultra-slim kerf produces a thin cut for less material removal and fast, effortless operation.

  • Freud TiCo Hi-Density carbide is specially formulated to maximize cutting life in composite materials and plastics
  • Modified Triple Chip Grind (MTCG) fabrication keeps composite material cool while cutting, producing melt-free cuts
  • Laser-cut stabilizer vents absorb noise and vibration, keeping the blade straight and true for superior quality cuts
  • Perma-SHIELD nonstick coating reduces drag and shields the blade against heat, gumming and corrosion
  • Super-thin kerf provides fast, clean cuts with minimal material removal, ideal for underpowered saws on a job site

Answer:
Hi, Jim - We do recommend using the Trex line of blades to provide the best cuts on Cellular PVC. The Diablo 7 ¼” x 44T, 10” x 72T, and 12” x 84T will work the best.

Answer:
This gave a remarkably clean cut on my pergo and trim. As always, place good side down when cutting with circular saw. You will also get a cleaner cut using a corded saw vs a cordless saw.

I plan on ripping @ 50' of Azek Capped PVC deck boards (besides crosscuts).
Diablo 72CD Trex/Composite description sounds best but the D1084L was recommended by salesperson.
Which would work better?
AND
In using either, finish side up or down when cutting for best edge?

Answer:
With ripping cellular PVC deck boards like Azek, you should use the DIABLO D1072CD Trex/Composite Decking blade. This blade will work well in cross-cuts too.
For the best cutting edge: (1) Using a table saw – you want finish side up; and (2) Using a slide miter – you want finish side down.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by best for really hard composites works really good on todays super hard composites. did not figure it would work muck better than the standard diablo made for wood but it does. dont cut composite with anything else... November 2, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by 7-1/4 in. x 44-Tooth Trex/Composite Material Cutting Saw Blade This Composite Decking and Trim Blade works like a charm. Clean cuts with no "swirls". I did not get the "melting" effect with this blade as opposed to a normal carbide blade. The blade stays clean during use. Produces clean cuts with no swirl marks Intended for cutting composite decking and cellular PVC For use on 7-1/2 in. circular saws May 27, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Much better than expected, great for composite, also good general blade Nothing like a new saw blade and 84 teeth make this one cut real smooth. Made for composite decking which it easily slices like butter. Blade changing on my compound saws is a pain so decided to give it a try on chopping some 2x6 fir which it handled with ease. This is a great blade for any composite deck project, appears it will last a good long while if not too abused with other materials. Sure it would cut hard woods too but I know that would wear it out more quickly so will keep this beauty for composite, pine and fir as intended. That way I can enjoy that smooth slice of cutting heaven that much longerwithn this excellent preforming blade. July 18, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Worked well on everything I tried I just completed a deck refurbishing using this blade on my DeWalt CMS, I'm far too lazy to swap blades when cutting different materials so I decided this would be a good torture test. Cellular PVC, pressure treated 4x4's, 1" by pine, 2" by spruce, aluminum flashing and even a hidden nail or two all cut cleanly, with no smoke, no problems and no apparent damage to the blade. I do make it a general rule to cut slowly rather than chop through material and to wax my blades with paste car wax to cut down on friction as I did with this one. I'm pleased with the performance of this blade and will continue to use it until it eventually wears out. June 2, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great blade for composite boards Can't do without this blade for clean composite decking cuts. August 23, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Long Lasting Saw Blade We have used these blades before on projects that other "regular" circular saw blades couldn't stand up to like the engineered hardwood bamboo flooring we put in our house. That's when we first tried Diablo blades because the run of the mill blades, even name brands, couldn't cut through the material. Composite decking is similarly hard to cut through and Diablo has the solution with this blade. The Diablo blades cut better for us on our projects and last longer, much longer. This is a quality product that gets the job done. The difference is notable between these blades and others in terms of ease of cutting and durability of the blade. June 9, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Works Well Would have rated 5 stars but does not clear cuttings well and can deform slightly causing an irregular cut if you plunge too fast into Trex decking. This was with a compound miter saw and once cut was through the board and chips could clear, it would cut beautifully and quickly. If cutting speed is important, recommend a sliding compound saw, I suspect it would cut composite decking much more easily and efficiently since blade wouldn't load up from having to lift material from the cut. The non-stick coating appears to actually work with no plastic build up on the blade after several hundred cuts through Trex Transcends decking. September 18, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good buy This is really a sharp saw blade, It is in a blister pack so be extra careful when taking the blade out. We didn't have any decking around the house and we wanted to try this blade out, So we got out a piece of pressboard and went to work anyway. The blade handled it with no problem, cuts fast, makes a real fine saw dust and really smooth cut. Bright red color makes it easy to find. February 4, 2016
